A brick and flint cottage in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, Drovers Cottage offers a private base for two people. The property takes its name from its former use as a stopping point for drovers moving livestock across the country; the cluster of fir trees nearby once served as a landmark visible from miles away. The surrounding fields hold archaeological traces of Roman occupation, with oyster shells still occasionally found in the soil.
Inside, the ground floor is open-plan with a living area, dining space and kitchen equipped for cooking from scratch. Upstairs is one double bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi—are covered. A large enclosed garden with patio and seating overlooks the fields. One dog is welcome. There is parking for two cars on site.
A village with a shop, church and two pubs serving food is within walking distance. The South Downs, New Forest, Winchester Cathedral and several beaches are accessible by car. Jane Austen's House is also within reach. The cottage does not permit smoking.
