About The Berkeley

Eastbourne's seafront, along with its pubs, restaurants and local attractions, is within easy walking distance of The Berkeley on Lascelles Terrace, and the surrounding area also suits those keen on cycling, walking or fishing, with watersports nearby too. It makes a handy base for exploring the town without needing a car for every outing.

The Berkeley itself is a traditional Victorian property with 13 individually decorated rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks provided in the room. Free WiFi is available throughout, and family rooms can be arranged for those travelling with children. Breakfast is served on site, setting guests up for a day out along the coast or into town.

It's the sort of place suited to guests who want a personal, home-style stay rather than a large hotel setup, with a bar and eatery both close by for evenings out.

Never anyone around to help you when you need! Staff available at very specific and limited times and if it doesn’t fit around your schedule you can get stuffed! Room is fine, bed is comfy. Hook and part of chest of drawers have fallen off from a gentle touch. Wouldn’t stay again.

My son and his wife came for airbourne. And on walking in the door the owner i believe started raising her voice and arguing with them over booking paperwork they had travelled over 200 miles. She was rude and unwelcoming to her guests. Even when they left it took a while as to where the keys wen. Found in a pot i believe.we only live in Pevensey bay. So we won't be recommending this place to anyone soon. And apparently wasn't that clean.

HORRIFIC customer service - Evil lady on the door. Our flight was delayed so we arrive at 9.30pm - in between the 8-11pm late check-in period at an additional £20fee. Our booking details said check-in available until 11pm. We were greeted by the a lady who claimed to only be the ‘night porter’ who said, ‘I won’t check you in you are late, call Booking.com’ then slammed the door in our face. We were left on the street without a place to stay. The woman was devoid of any human decency. We had to pay for an uber from Eastbourne towards London just to find somewhere to stay at midnight. Completely ruined our weekend hiking plans. The next day we called asking for the manager to complain, the same lady answered now under the title of ‘receptionist/manager’, and said tough luck, call booking.com. Booking.com also received the same rude, closed off response from this lady, and pleaded for the refund, she refused. Never give this place or this devious woman your money. It really was a (what has the world come to moment). So so sad. If an owner of the Berkeley ever sees this, please get in touch, you can’t employ someone like that. If she is in fact the owner / manager herself, I pray for your sad soul.

Good value for money. I stayed in a single person room for a night. It had everything I'd expected from a room for the price. Few things to note - it's not good sound proofing, you might hear people walking during quiet hours. You'll be asked to be pay a £100 deposit during check-in.
