About The Sherwood - Guest house

Set within a terraced building on Lascelles Terrace, The Sherwood is a modest, eleven-room guest house within easy reach of Eastbourne's seafront and the South Downs National Park. Its terrace-house character gives it a homely, low-key feel rather than a grand hotel one, with a TV lounge for guests to relax in and a bar on site for a drink in the evening.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and are kept warm and comfortable, with drinks available in room and family rooms offered for those travelling with children. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout, breakfast is served each morning, and there's 24 hour reception along with luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. A particular perk is the use of a beach hut and deckchairs, a rare extra for a guest house of this size.

The surrounding area suits an active stay, with cycling and walking routes nearby, golf and fishing available, and watersports on offer along the coast. Pubs, restaurants and entertainment can all be found close by, making it a straightforward base for exploring Eastbourne and the Downs beyond.

The room bed and bathroom were clean. The hotel feels run down and I had difficulty checking in, but over a good value.

We spent 9 comfortable days at this delightful guest house. We were having our house renovated so had to move out for a while. We had a double room and everything worked! Great shower, efficient heating and nice bed. All very clean. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you to Pete and Lisa the managers

Stayed for 2 nights, great place, comfy bed. I suffer with with a chronic lack of sleep, living in London comes with it's costs of peace and quiet so I was glad to get a full 8 hours sleep both nights I stayed, it's quiet and tranquil despite being so close to the town (I was staying in a single room at the front of the hotel) The couple running the place were friendly, cooked a great breakfast and you can get hotel parking permits for just £1 a day (unlike the local paid parking which can be anything between £6-12 a day!) Recommended!

Very warm welcome by the owner. It's an old characteristic building with typical features. It's not a hotel. It's a guesthouse, there's a difference. We loved it. The family room, which we stayed in with 4 adults was very spacy. There was coffee tea cookies and water. The breakfast was very good! I would definitely stay here again.
