Keen to visit the Edinburgh Festival but wary of staying in the bustling city centre? This seasonal glamping site in the grounds of the beautiful 18th-century Drum Estate offers an ideal solution. Just five miles south of Edinburgh, it's perfectly placed for hopping on a bus into town for comedy, theatre and music, then retreating to a more tranquil setting when you need breathing space.

You'll stay in well-appointed bell tents sleeping up to four, with comfortable mattresses, cosy throws and all bedding provided. Lanterns add soft ambience, while barbecues and firepits let you cook and stay warm outdoors. Shared facilities include showers, toilets and wifi, plus a play area for children. The estate itself is a treat – home to a regenerative farm, wildlife areas and even a riding school for the disabled, with gorgeous grounds that have featured in films and TV shows.

A small supermarket sits just a couple of minutes' walk from the entrance, making self-catering straightforward. It's a peaceful, scenic base that makes festival-going feel less frenetic.
