Arrived early and asked if the room was ready, we'd gotten the train in from Derby. Was told no but we could leave our luggage and it would be in the room for us when we checked in. It was and was a lovely touch. Room was very nice and clean, a tad small to have a comfy chair or two but very nice. Lovely spacious bathroom with a great shower. Bed was very comfy as were the pillows. Lovely door opening to look over a courtyard, which was a nice touch. Only two minor complaints were the mentioned door didn't have a blind on it and was east facing, so the room was filling with natural light from 4am. We visited in July. Also one large dressing mirror but no plug sockets close to it so the good lady couldn't see herself drying or straightening her hair. Just small complaints. Location is very good and close enough to the city centre to walk to all the main attractions if you're a good walker. Unfortunately the trams weren't running so walking it was for us! But we love walking anyways. Lovely bar in the hotel too. Would definitely return and recommend. Very nice.

Bed was very comfortable and large. Rooms were very clean and had all the essentials. We found the room a bit too hot even with the Dyson fan on all the time. We ate in the bar and the food was very tasty. The location is fantastic, just at the west end so very handy for the shops or a walk up to the castle. A trip to Dean village is just a short walk. We had a lovely stay and would come back.

Great location , 20mins walk to everywhere castle , museums etc. Did not like my room, very dull. needs a refresh. Window overlooked other rooms , I could see people in their double bed next door. Kept my curtains shut all the time . No small side lights for at night , had to have full ceiling light on. Breakfast on first morning was cancelled , chef sick. No offer of a coffee or pastries , nothing. Had to pay for breakfast elsewhere. Breakfast next day was fantastic . Staff friendly. Last morning , waited 30 mins even though only ordered brioche . Had to leave with nothing as had to get to the station. Complained to staff. Bar area looks nice , but expensive . Didn't use it. Areas of hotel need a clean and lick of paint , hallways etc.

Got a standard room with a queen bed. Room is clean and fairly spacious and comfortable. Nice bedding. Has a mini fridge, bath robes, slippers etc. The hotel lobby is always empty so checking in took a while for someone to come.
