About easyHotel Edinburgh
Princes Street runs right past easyHotel Edinburgh's door, putting the castle ramparts and the sweep of the city skyline within easy reach on foot. This is an adults-only hotel built for guests who want a base in the thick of things rather than a destination in itself, and the setting does most of the work, with the Royal Mile and the wider Old Town a short walk away.
The 29 rooms are compact and simple, each with an en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, and some make the most of their position with views towards the castle. Showers are a genuine highlight, with decent water pressure noted more than once, though the rooms themselves run small and can show signs of wear. Luggage storage is available for those working around check-in times, but there's no parking on site, so this suits guests arriving on foot, by train or by taxi.
Pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues sit within walking distance, along with opportunities for golf, fishing and watersports nearby for those keen to get out of the city centre. Staff are consistently described as friendly, which counts for a good deal on a short stay where the room is really just somewhere to sleep between exploring.

My second one night stay here. It is on a busy street but my room had a beautiful view of the castle. Perfect for a one night stay with a very central location. Be realistic, you're paying for a box room, bed and bathroom, no-frills experience. Staff were pleasant, room was clean. Earplugs, eye mask and melatonin are a must!

The Easy is not for the claustrophobic or large folk of any type. Handily situated along the Princes Road more or less opposite outstanding views of the gardens and Castle, everything changes once your buzzed inside from the street as the single orange door to enter is locked at all times. First of all you have to negotiate many steps and pray your not on the top floor with heavy luggage as there is no lift. This place is basically no thrills. The rooms have everything you need but are smaller than a standard three bed semi-detached bedroom. Showering is also an experience. Personally I wouldn't recommend for more than one night but everything depends on the travellers budget. There is no car park or bar but hot drinks can be purchased in the check in lobby for a pound. There is also a bag drop facility for £2.50. But do bear in mind to collect you need to use the intercom to gain readmission and we were kept waiting 30 minutes in the street before a fellow resident let us in. Quite simply it's OK.

We do not recommend this hotel. My husband and I initially booked it for two nights but there was a bright green safety light in the room that illuminated the entire space and could not be turned off. Management advised that this was a mandatory safety feature. Unfortunately, the light was so intrusive that neither of us got any meaningful sleep. Also it was so warm in the room and apparently the AC is centrally controlled and it didn't cool the room at all. As anyone travelling knows, a good night's rest is essential, especially when you have a full day of sightseeing planned. The lack of sleep significantly impacted our enjoyment of the following day. We went down to the reception twice between 2-3 in the morning and we were told all rooms have this. So we decided to leave the hotel early morning. Before we checked out we were told that will get a refund for the second night and to email the hotel. But to our surprise we got an email from a manager (two days after we checked out) who wasn't even at the property saying that they offered us another room and since we didn't take up on the offer we will not be getting a refund for the second night and that in some rooms this light is not as bright. Well before we checked out they just told us all rooms have this safety feature and nothing about in some rooms it is not being as bright. So I don't know how this is our fault and why we are not entitled to a refund because we were just told all rooms have this safety feature. Other things to consider before booking the room is (even though not the reason for the cancellation of second night) small rooms where you barely have room to open your luggage (true they give the dimensions on the website but expect them to be smaller than expected), the building does not have an elevator so if you get rooms on the 3rd floor like us good luck carrying your luggage up the thin narrow winding stair, since we were up the whole night we had to listen to someone snoring next door the whole night (very thin walls). We do not recommend this hotel and the contradicting information they have provided us by the the staff at the hotel and off-duty manager and refusing to provide us a refund for the second night (after we were told we will be provided one) has been very disappointing. Pictures of the emergency light taken in the night is attached

The rooms are extremely tiny and really only good if you’re just planning to sleep there and spend no time in the room. Yes, we knew it was a budget room and that the space would be small. They don't let you control your own AC so the rooms are very warm, they did provide a fan but it took hours to get it. The bathroom is super super tiny and the shower and toilet are basically together. They also don’t do room cleaning unless you pay an extra fee so you don’t get new towels. The bed is extremely hard and there are limited plugs in the room. You also cannot open more than one suitcase at a time. The view is the only thing that makes the room worth it.

People say this hotel offers a central location with castle views, a powerful hot shower, and friendly staff, making it suitable for short stays.
Other reviews mention the rooms can be extremely small and poorly maintained.
