About Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel

The Grassmarket has been one of Edinburgh's most atmospheric streets for centuries, sitting in the shadow of the castle rock with the Old Town's closes and stairways rising around it, and this is where the Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel makes its home. The cobbled setting puts guests within walking distance of the castle itself, along with the wynds, shops and restaurants that spill off the surrounding streets.

Inside, the hotel's 122 rooms are well equipped and kept in good order, with guests regularly noting comfortable beds and decent bathroom fittings. There's a restaurant and bar on site for meals without needing to venture out, breakfast is served each morning, and free WiFi and a lift are provided throughout. Luggage storage is available for those arriving early or leaving late, and the hotel also functions as a wedding venue for those wanting a Grassmarket setting for the occasion.

Staff are consistently mentioned as attentive and helpful, adding a personal touch to what is already a strong location. Beyond the hotel doors, the Grassmarket itself offers pubs, eateries and entertainment on the doorstep, with the wider Old Town's attractions all within easy reach on foot.

In general the hotel was nice. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and the shower was good and it came with a bathtub. But I didn't realize there was no air conditioning in the three rooms are family reserved. Would not have books if I had known in advance.

A lovely, but somewhat dated hotel. The hotel's location is unique and extremely central, offering an unobstructed view of Edinburgh Castle. We were able to park directly in the hotel's own car park. Virtually every imaginable tourist bus tour departs from right outside the hotel, and Edinburgh's Old Town is easily accessible on foot. The hotel itself was undergoing renovations, and our room was a bit worn, but clean! The staff was friendly, and the continental breakfast buffet was adequate, but ordering something from the à la carte menu is highly recommended. Overall, it was a pleasant stay!

Stopped here for the night when running the Marathon. The hotel was very well placed for the start line but also very good location just for some of the sights in Edinburgh. No complaints, staff were great, rooms big and clean, coffee shots were welcome. Would stay again.

Great location. Freshly married couple. Access to all sights within minutes :) what we missed? - no newspapers. Usually such premium hotel offer magazines/newspapers. We love reading while having a breakfast - extra charge for parking lot (£20 a day!) - no air condition in the rooms, just one small ventilator/fan
