About Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

A rooftop terrace with castle views sets Virgin Hotels Edinburgh apart from most stays tucked into the Old Town. The hotel occupies a spot just off Victoria Street, putting the winding cobbled lane and the wider historic quarter within easy walking distance, along with the city's transport links.

The hotel has 222 rooms, designed with an emphasis on space and practical layout, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and free WiFi, plus family rooms for those travelling with children. There's a restaurant and bar on site for meals and drinks, breakfast is available, and a gym gives guests somewhere to work out without leaving the building. Luggage storage and an electric vehicle charge point add to the practical side of things, while chargeable parking is available nearby rather than on site.

Staff are consistently noted for being attentive and professional, which counts for a lot on a first visit to the city. Beyond the doors, guests can explore nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment, with golf, fishing and watersports also within reach for those wanting to venture further afield. Pets are welcome, making this a workable base for a wide range of trips to Edinburgh.

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh is located on one of the most charming streets in the city, right in the heart of everything. The location was easily the best part of our stay, and it made exploring Edinburgh extremely convenient. The staff were also very friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our visit. The rooms had some appealing features, including a modern design, mini fridge, and vaulted ceilings. However, they were not as impressive as I expected from the Virgin brand, especially considering the price. Our room felt small, the shower had very weak water pressure, and the hotel’s unusual layout included several split levels that made the floor plan feel awkward. Parking is another major consideration. There is essentially no convenient public parking near the hotel. You can briefly pull up in front to unload your luggage, but after that your options are limited. The hotel offers valet parking for £45 per night, but capacity is limited and it must be reserved in advance. If you are driving, I strongly recommend booking the valet before you arrive. Overall, the location and staff were excellent, but the room did not feel good enough for the price. My recommendation is a toss-up: the hotel is hard to beat for location, but I would probably try another property in the same area on a future visit.

My stay at Virgin Hotel Edinburgh was overall a wonderful experience. The location is simply unbeatable, right in the heart of the city, and the views of Edinburgh Castle from the rooftop are absolutely breathtaking. The concierge team was exceptional throughout my stay, always professional, attentive, and eager to help. Likewise, the reception team did an impeccable job, with one exception: one of the receptionists working this morning could certainly improve her attitude and customer service skills. Unfortunately, this interaction is the reason why I am giving the hotel 4 out of 5 stars, as her attitude left much to be desired. I would also like to mention Marcos, who ensured that my room was always spotless, clean, and perfectly organized. His work did not go unnoticed and truly enhanced my stay. As for breakfast, I found it a bit disappointing. Although it was served buffet-style with a good variety of options, most of the food was cold, except for the eggs, which were freshly prepared to order. On the other hand, the restaurant host was absolutely lovely and made me feel at home at all times with her warmth and hospitality. Despite these minor issues, I had a very pleasant stay and would happily recommend the hotel for its outstanding location, incredible views, and dedicated staff.

Our stay at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived until the day we checked out, every aspect of our experience exceeded our expectations. The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect, right on Victoria Street and within walking distance of Edinburgh’s main attractions, making it the ideal base for exploring the city. The service was truly five-star. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, friendly, and genuinely eager to help. No request was too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It’s rare to come across such consistently outstanding hospitality. Our room was beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable, with great attention to detail throughout. This has genuinely been one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Edinburgh. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a luxurious stay with exceptional service in the heart of the city.

The Virgin Hotel is perfectly located, close to all the main attractions and the central station. The hotel seems like a relatively new build, everything felt new or completely refurbished, no wear and tear present. We chose a quiet room and it was the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in even though it faced a street. The rooms are not huge but extremely comfortable and well fitted. The bedding was high quality and good nights sleep is guaranteed. The aircon system was extremely quiet so you can leave it running all night. The hotel has two good restaurants, a bar, and a well equipped gym. Free late afternoon drinks was a nice touch. Breakfast was reasonable with a number of options including cooked and/or buffet categories. The staff were all professional, helpful, and engaging which really did make a positive difference. We were extremely pleased to have chosen Virgin Edinburgh, it made our stay a special one.
