About Averon Guest House

Rooms at Averon Guest House come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks provided, along with family rooms available for those travelling in a group. Furnishings are functional rather than plush, and while most rooms are well kept, some have been reported as a little tired around the edges, so it is worth bearing that in mind when booking.

Downstairs, the bar is the heart of the place, with live Scottish music and storytelling laid on most evenings, giving the guest house a sociable, characterful feel that sets it apart from a standard city stay. Breakfast is served each morning and is consistently well regarded, and staff are noted for being friendly and attentive throughout a stay. There's a garden for quieter moments, free WiFi throughout, and free on-site parking, which is a genuine convenience in this part of Edinburgh.

The location on Gilmore Place puts guests within reach of Edinburgh Haymarket, Edinburgh Zoo, and a good spread of local pubs, restaurants and eateries. Walking and cycling routes are close by, and golf, fishing and watersports can all be arranged nearby for those wanting to venture further afield.

We had a wonderful stay at Averon Guest House. It's a beautiful historic house, full of character, while being exceptionally clean and very well maintained. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A lovely touch was the traditional Scottish live music evening, where Alan Cran performed a selection of Scottish songs accompanied by beautiful videos of Scotland. It made the experience even more special. If you're looking for a comfortable, authentic, and friendly place to stay.

Great place, staff is very nice and welcoming. We had a room on the ground floor, and we got a key for the front door so we could let ourselves in whenever we needed, which was useful. Breakfast is nothing to write home about, but it is decent for such a small establishment. The service is excellent, as the staff were very quick to top off our milk etcetera at breakfast, so don’t hesitate to ask if you need something. Room was cleaned and bed was made every day when we were out, so a nice thing to come back to when you return to your room. Owner is very nice and let us store our luggage on the first day before our check in time, and let us store it again at check out until we came back for it. Also almost every night there is played live scottish music by Alan Cran, which was very nice. location is max 20 minutes away from various thrift place and cafes, so very close to the city. 5/5 stars, highly recommend!

Good location, friendly staff and owner. Many nice restaurants nearby. Don't do Pepe's piri piri as you'll have explosive diarrhea afterwards. Breakfast is as basic as it gets but it's a good way to start the day. Seems like there is only one shared bathroom for all visitors but I never had issues going and I went a lot because I had eaten Pepe's piri piri. The owner performs with ancient Scottish music every evening. It's a fun way to learn about Schotland and Edinburgh.

Very walkable into the city. Great friendly staff. Good family room. Free parking! That’s worth it together with the breakfast and the Scottish music night! Our bathroom was in the closets! Brilliant
