What guests say
We had 2 nights at Black Ivy with our 2 dogs. We were warmly welcomed by the staff member and shown to our room. The room was fantastic, very spacious with a wonderful bathroom and huge bed!! We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The dogs were welcomed and given a bowl of sausages!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff were very attentive and we felt very comfortable there with the dogs. We would highly recommend the Black Ivy and hope to go back in the future.

"Second stay as lovely as the first" First off, let's clarify some points I see in a lot of other reviews: yes, this hotel and the hotel rooms are sometimes noisy. The thing is, it is shown everywhere when you look at the hotel website, so I quite do not understand the bad reviews talking about it. Black Ivy is a boutique hotel (so not a lot of rooms) with a wonderful bar, restaurant and it does indeed do, once a week, DJ sets (until 1am, as written on their website). But let's dive in: the wife and I went to the Black Ivy for 5 nights, in a room with Park view (so above their outside terrace). Room was cozy, clean. The bed was great (not too firm). Room is on the smaller side, but it was enough for us, as we not stay a lot in it. Check-in and check-out were more than easy, the staff helping us and even booking us a cab on the last day (thanks again !). They now have a lift to go to the rooms, which was a great addition, especially when you carry heavy luggage. Food was wonderful, either breakfast, evening dinner and especially the Sunday roast which was a really fantastic meal ! You can even go there only for a drink as they have a nice range of teas, beers, whiskies and gins. Their cocktails are wonderful as well :) Ambience is really another thing that set the Black Ivy apart from the other hotels. The decorum is wonderful, between flowers and wood, with dim lighting setting a romantic, intimate feeling. Black Ivy is on Bruntsfield, so a little bit more than 20 minutes from Princes Street by foot. But, you are surrounded by wonderful parks, a little golf course, and you got buses to the city and to the Pentland really not far from the hotel ! Thanks again to all the staff for making both our trips to the Black Ivy wonderful. We certainly will be back :D

What a great place to end the evening. After a pub walk we ended at the Black Ivy where it was all happening. Lovely aatmosphere..staff very efficient and pleasant. Definately a must visit if you are in the area. There is also nice outdoor seating but it was a little chilly by the time we got there. Woll visit again if i had the opportunity.

This is my second time staying and it's still great. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well equipped. I especially like that I don't have to walk endless corridors to find the room. The staff are friendly and efficient. The menu has plenty of options and the food is well presented and importantly for me, served hot. Treat yourself to the skillet breakfast, outstanding. I look forward to my next visit.
