About Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel
Holyrood Road sits between the Old Town and the open ground below Arthur's Seat, and the Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel takes advantage of that position, putting the Royal Mile and the hillside walks around the Seat within easy reach on foot. It's a sizeable hotel, with 157 rooms spread across six floors, including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and room service laid on.
Downstairs there's a restaurant serving Scottish dishes, a bar and a snack bar, plus a breakfast spread with a good range of choices. The spa is a strong point, with an indoor pool and sauna that are kept in good order, and there's a gym for anyone keen to stay active. Meeting rooms and business services are available too, alongside laundry, concierge and luggage storage for those passing through. One point worth flagging: the climate control in rooms doesn't always work as well as it should.
Golf, fishing and watersports are all listed nearby for those wanting to range further afield, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment close by. On-site parking is available, though it comes at an extra charge.
What guests say
Decent hotel, great location, good enough service. Rooms are a little old and would need a refresh, beds are too soft, rooms are hard to keep dark, gym is of a decent size and the pool is very good. Food downstairs was somewhat deceptive, and far from a Marriott-standard level. Guest service was great and welcoming.

My girl friends organised my birthday with an afternoon tea at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The setting is elegant and comfortable, ideal for a special occasion. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented, with a great selection of fresh sandwiches, warm scones, and delicious desserts. Everything was high quality and full of flavour. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. Overall, a lovely place to celebrate and enjoy a relaxed afternoon tea. I would definitely recommend it and would happily return.

Went here with my girls, spa was nice and pool was beautiful. Only thing, when we got there they couldn’t find us in the system 😕 but the guy who was at reception also did our treatment and he sorted it all out so we were fine. Massage was absolutely amazing, and the other therapist was really good too. We had such a lovely day overall, everything was great!

We have arrived back in Devon from our stay at Holyrood Marriott last week - and missing Edinburgh already! This was our second visit to the hotel, previously staying there four years ago. The location for us is excellent, with visits booked both to the castle & Holyrood palace during our 3-stay trip. All staff were excellent, courteous & helpful - Reception & Restaurant staff, mornings / evenings - with nothing too much trouble. The restaurant food was excellent, both at breakfast & evening meal, with the latter so enjoyable the first night that we booked again for our last evening. Breakfasts especially were busy & the staff waste no time in clearing tables & empty plates to keep things moving & looking clean & tidy. Our rooms were super, clean & fresh and bathrooms with walk-in showers gave an extra touch of luxury. The joy of staying at Holyrood is in part the quietness of the location. Whilst being parallel to the Royal Mile, you are still away from the hub-bub of the crowds & traffic. The proximity to Holyrood palace, Arthur's Seat & the Royal Mile shops is excellent. Thank you Team Marriott for a great stay in lovely Edinburgh. It felt like a home away from home.
