About Hotel Ceilidh-Donia - Townhouse Hotel

Hotel Ceilidh-Donia occupies a townhouse building on Marchhall Crescent, one of Edinburgh's residential streets, and offers 17 rooms behind its traditional facade. The setting is calm and away from the bustle of the centre, though buses run conveniently into town, making it easy to combine a peaceful base with easy access to the sights.

Rooms are en-suite and come with comfortable, spacious beds and generously sized showers, kept to a good standard of cleanliness throughout. Breakfast is a particular strength, with a varied spread that runs from a full Scottish breakfast to Eggs Benedict. The hotel also has a bar, drinks available in-room, 24-hour reception and luggage storage, and it doubles as a wedding venue for those wanting to celebrate on site. Staff are consistently described as warm and helpful, happy to offer local tips and practical guidance to guests finding their feet in the city.

Beyond the hotel, Edinburgh Zoo is a notable point of interest nearby, and the surrounding area offers pubs, restaurants and eateries within easy reach, along with cycling routes, golf and fishing for those wanting to get outdoors. It's a good option for travellers who prefer a quiet residential base with straightforward transport links into the centre.

The hosts are exemplary. Breakfast is good and fresh. I liked our room except we were on the ground floor IMMEDIATELY inside the front door of the hotel. So we heard constant noise of people going in and out and talking and checking in and out and luggage moving around... It was a lot of noise. I did like the huge window we had. The location of the hotel is nice, it's an easy walk to the Royal Mile and other popular tourist spots. It's a generally very easily walkable city all around.

If you are visiting Edinburgh, do yourself a favor and book this hotel! I have nothing but good things to say. Firstly, the transportation, whether from the airport or to the city center or if you want to go a bit farther out of Edinburgh, is very convenient. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and the breakfast offered was delicious! Lastly, the people! Everyone was so kind and friendly. When I go back, I am definitely staying here!!

Wonderful accommodation! Thank you so much! Our stay in Edinburgh was wonderful. Our accommodation at the Ceilidh-Donia Hotel, a beautiful and peaceful Victorian house, contributed greatly to this. The service from our welcomeer, as well as from Kevin, was exceptional. Kevin and Susi's breakfasts were plentiful and delicious! The beds were spacious and very comfortable, with excellent sheets, blankets, and towels. The hotel was also very clean. We would definitely love to return! Thank you so much to everyone for your kindness, friendliness, and dedication.

Nice little hotel with the most lovely staff. Definetly worth staying in if you prefer quieter part of town. Bus stop to city centre only few minutes from the hotel. Served breakfeast was a nice bonus.
