Holyrood Park is Edinburgh's natural playground—offering wilderness adventure minutes from the city centre. It's absolutely family-friendly with options for all abilities, from gentle lochside strolls to proper hill climbs. The combination of geology, history, and breathtaking views makes it a must-visit that feels miles away from urban life while being astonishingly accessible.

We hiked up Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park. It took about half an hour to hike up to the top. The views all the way up we're incredible! Wehen going down off the top to the Crags the views were very different, still incredible! Be prepared for the wind though it is always windy up there I would think. We had a picnic on the grass and the ravens were looking for crumbs as we sat there. Overall a very nice way to spend an afternoon. We will never forget those amazing views!

Great park in the city centre with iconic Arthur’s seat looking out to the Forth. Nice walking and running and cycling routes. A must do for those in Edinburgh for a few days who are reasonably fit.

There is a large area of grass that you can chill on, and the hike up to Arthur’s Seat is a 1-2 hour trip in total with lovely views. Along the way you can find many birds, if you are interested in them. We went up in spring and saw crows, jackdaws, seagulls, pheasants, and probably many more we missed!
