About MW Townhouse

A proper Scottish breakfast sets the tone at MW Townhouse, backed up by a bar and restaurant on site for guests who'd rather not venture out once they've settled in. There's a snack bar too, so odd-hour cravings are covered, and drinks can be brought straight to the room if you're after a quieter evening.

The property itself is a Victorian-era townhouse on Spence Street in Edinburgh, holding eight rooms that guests have described as polished and comfortable. Free WiFi and air conditioning are standard, and a lift makes access straightforward for those who'd rather skip the stairs. A garden offers a bit of outdoor space, and the building doubles as a wedding venue with meeting rooms available for other events.

Porter services and luggage storage take care of the practical side of arriving and leaving, while free on-site parking is a useful bonus in a city where that's not always guaranteed. Edinburgh Zoo is within reach for a day out, and the surrounding area has its own pubs, restaurants and entertainment on hand, with Edinburgh Waverley station around two miles away for onward travel.

I was in here with Edinburgh council as a temporary homeless accommodation, nothing four star about the place, owners attitude was appalling, room was freezing cold, when I reported that the room was constantly cold and the radiator did not work he fitted draft excluders and bleed the radiator and claimed that was it fixed. When I complained again about it was told a plumber would come and check it which never happened then had the cheek to say that I broke the radiator on my departure of the accommodation. Would not recommend this place to anyway and stay as far away from this accomodation as possible as Edinburgh city council is looking into his neglect for people being placed in here!

I would recommend anyone visiting Edinburgh to stay here. The rooms are great, the service even better. Ash has always been extremely accommodating. I had always been on my way to explore town prior to breakfast, but the dining area was always attractive.

A very nice, clean guesthouse. Within easy walking of Edinburgh city centre and lots of shopping chances on the way into the city centre. Easy to find parking is a bit tight but you'll not need your car being within easy walk of Edinburgh.

It's a plus that there is free parking. It is very easy to hear the other guests in the building. We were staying on the ground floor and in the room next to us were staying people speaking Indian (or similar language) with a baby, which was so loud that we could hear what they were talking about, if we understood the language. I paid about the same amount as if I were sleeping in a Hotel. So therefor I am a bit disappointed about my stay.
