About House of Gods Royal Mile
House of Gods Royal Mile puts the best of Edinburgh's Old Town on your doorstep, with the Royal Mile itself a short stroll away and Edinburgh Waverley station close enough to reach on foot. The Cowgate address also sits among a dense cluster of pubs, restaurants and evening entertainment, making it an easy base for exploring the city without needing a car - useful given there's no parking available on site.
The hotel has 22 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks in the room, plus a nightly touch of milk and cookies. Rooms lean towards the compact side, but beds are comfortable and the styling has a distinctive, indulgent feel that sets it apart from a standard city-centre hotel. Staff are attentive and happy to help with recommendations or requests via the concierge service.
Breakfast comes as a hamper delivered to the room, and there's a bar on site along with room service for those who'd rather not venture out. When guests do go exploring, the surrounding streets offer plenty of choice for eating and drinking, and the location makes it simple to fit in sightseeing, nightlife or a day trip further afield.

What guests say
What a place! We felt truly spoiled during our stay. From the (still warm!) cookies and milk after a long day exploring the city, to the delicious breakfast hamper delivered at the exact time we asked, the service was second to none. The rooms are on the smaller side especially if you have a big suitcase, but I can’t fault the place. We will be back!

I love this hotel. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are fantastic venues. My partner and I have gone a few times and are blown away every time by the fantastic service. Everyone staff member we have spoken to when staying has been utterly brilliant at making you feel welcome and free to ask if you need help with anything. The service is quick, friendly and goes beyond satisfactory. I want to shoutout Joe at the Glasgow branch as I have booked through them a couple times and they have been so accommodating and friendly. I just really get the impression that Joe cares and wants to help whatever they can to help. That goes such a long way when dealing with a business. The rooms are lovely. The Cabin and Classic rooms are small but make up for it in design and the features throughout. The Presidential Suite in Glasgow is absolutely wonderful. I can't stress enough how much I truly believe this hotel is absolutely nailing what they are trying to achieve. The hotel can be pricey but we often go for non-peak times and think the rooms are very reasonable at that time of year for a treat. Will continue staying here for the foreseeable, that's for sure. Keep up the good work HoG team!

We went on a whim, when we arrived we found out the bar was mainly for hotel guests or those with reservations. The guy on the door was very kind and checked to see if there was space for us, which they were able to accommodate us. The bar area was very cute and nicely decorated, the team were very friendly and our drinks came quickly. No issues were had, cannot wait to go back!

The hotel is in a great location. It’s a busy area with lots of student bars around, however the room was quiet. Unfortunately my room smelled terrible and wasn’t very clean. When I checked in I noticed a strong smell of fried food, I assumed this was due to a the air con or the hotel kitchen and would go away. After returning from dinner a few hours later the smell was still present. In fact all sheets, towels and curtains held the same smell. After asking for help I was told that the AC would fix it, and that the smell was caused by the cleaning agent that had been used. This obviously isn’t true. Luckily I was given a bottle of air freshener to combat the smell… I’m left with a room that smells like a kebab shop and has dust and hair all over. Great location, but would not stay here again.
