About Mono Suites
A restaurant and bar on site give Mono Suites a head start for anyone who'd rather not go hunting for dinner after a day of sightseeing, and with drinks available in the room too, there's no pressure to head out once you've settled in. It's a small hotel, just 10 rooms, on South Bridge in the heart of Edinburgh.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and a kitchen, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Free WiFi and 24 hour reception cover the practical side of things, so late arrivals and streaming needs are both taken care of.
The location puts Edinburgh Waverley within easy reach, at 0.80 miles, useful for anyone arriving by train or heading off to explore further afield. Edinburgh Zoo is also within reach for a day out, and the surrounding area has plenty of pubs, restaurants and eateries for evenings when guests do fancy venturing beyond the hotel bar. Walking and cycling routes nearby suit those wanting to see the city on foot or two wheels, while golf, fishing and watersports are all listed as options for a change of pace outside the centre.
What guests say
The highlight of this property is its excellent location, making it very easy to explore Edinburgh. The team were outstanding, approachable, professional, and always willing to assist. Communication was smooth throughout, and accessing the property was simple and convenient. This was my second stay with them, and once again, everything met a high standard. I also stayed at Mono Suites New Town about a year ago, and both experiences have been consistently impressive. Highly recommended for a comfortable and convenient stay in Edinburgh.

Would not recommend at all. Very noisy - karaoke screaming and shouting carried on until early morning hours. The bedroom windows are beneath some massive external air vent/extractors which blew vile fried oil smelling air into the bedroom. Shower did not work. Heat was set on 29 degrees Celsius so it was oppressively hot. Plus no lift so had to lug our massive bags plus golf bags up 3 flights of stairs. If you’re looking for some modicum of comfort, do not stay here.

This deserves a 1 star review. All because the noise and compact room size. The karaoke is not closing as it mentioned 1 am. The god dann noise is more like vibration and definitely cannot be eliminated by the poor earplug…The sofa bed takes up all the space in the living room, even hard to pass through. Absolutely not suitable for 4 residents…

We stayed at Monosuites Edinburgh for four nights and were extremely pleased with its central location. It is within walking distance of most top tourist attractions. However, it is worth noting that the accommodation is on a very busy road, with heavy traffic both day and night. Earplugs are provided upon arrival, which is a thoughtful touch. We were really disappointed to find out on the morning of our arrival that Monosuites was unable to provide us with the ‘special assistance’ we had requested, even though it was stated in our booking (we booked via LastMinute.com, so this could be an issue on their end). Additionally, our booking clearly indicated that we had a baby with us, yet we were placed on the top floor of the building—64 steps up! Carrying a pram that far was quite a challenge. The apartments do have a locker service on the entry level, which costs £8 per night (£32 for our four-night stay). After one trip up the stairs with the pushchair, we quickly realised we wouldn’t be able to manage it again, so we opted to use the locker. However, the process to book and access the lockers was unnecessarily complicated. The apartment itself was welcoming, clean, and spacious. It’s worth noting that the room is located above a restaurant and can get quite warm—even in March, we found ourselves opening windows and using fans. The thermostat showed a high of 26°C, giving an idea of the warmth. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, which provided plenty of space for the four of us. The kitchen was adequately equipped with basic utensils for cooking and cleaning. It included a dual hob, microwave, and fridge but had no oven, which was a little inconvenient. We were also disappointed that there was no toaster. The bathroom initially appeared clean, but we soon discovered that the shower gel pump wasn’t working. Upon removing the bottle from the stand, we noticed it was full of mold—not ideal! One final issue to mention: the living room door was propped open with a doorstop, and underneath it, we found a large screw screwed into the flooring. This could have easily been stepped on or crawled over by our baby, potentially causing serious injury. This is a health and safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately.
