About hub by Premier Inn Edinburgh Haymarket

Every room at hub by Premier Inn Edinburgh Haymarket is fitted with a tablet-style control panel for lighting, temperature and entertainment, a small but useful touch that sets this 100-room hotel apart from a standard city stay. Rooms are compact by design, en-suite and air conditioned, with some offering good views over the surrounding streets. Accessible rooms are available, and staff are on hand around the clock at the 24-hour reception.

Breakfast and a restaurant are available on site, and there's chargeable parking nearby for anyone driving in. The hotel sits on Torphichen Street, close enough to Haymarket Station to make onward travel straightforward, and within reach of Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle for a day of sightseeing. Pubs, restaurants and other places to eat are all close by for evenings out.

It works well as a base for exploring the city on a budget, though those wanting generous room space may find it tight. What it lacks in size it makes up for in location and the practical extras built into each room.

We paid an additional 15 pounds for early check-in at 12:00 PM and arrived at 12:30 PM. However, the young receptionist at the entrance was neither welcoming nor helpful. When we asked about our room, she responded rudely, saying that "early check-in from 12:00 PM doesn't mean it will be available at 12:00 PM, it can be anytime after 12:00 PM." If that is the case, why advertise a 12:00 PM early check-in and charge extra for it? There were two couples waiting ahead of us, and when their rooms became available, they were allocated in the order they had arrived, which was completely fair. However, when it was our turn, the receptionist simply ignored us and gave a room to another guest who had just arrived for early check-in. We had been waiting much longer. This made us feel that we were treated with slight racism. Since the receptionist had seen our Asian passports, while the guest who was given the room ahead of us had a European passport, it left us with the impression that we were not treated equally. The experience felt unfair and was very disappointing. Everyone pays the same amount and deserves to be treated with the same level of respect and professionalism. Overall, the receptionist's attitude was disappointing and left a very negative impression of the hotel. Paying nearly 200 pounds for such a small room only added to our dissatisfaction. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel to others.

£600 for a Room That Felt Like a Hostel 💰 Price / Value for Money – Terrible I paid £600 for 4 nights (Friday–Tuesday) booking directly through the official website. On the day of arrival, the exact same room was available for around £400. 💡 Tip – If your travel dates are flexible, check prices on the same day. Rates seem to drop dramatically. Also, don't rely on reception being available outside normal daytime hours. 🚫 Would I Recommend? No The room faced rubbish bins and a dirty roof. My request to change rooms was rejected because the hotel was supposedly full, yet identical rooms were still bookable online. Soundproofing does not exist. Every step, conversation, and corridor noise can be heard. Reception was repeatedly unattended in the morning and evening despite claiming to operate 24/7. The smell in the staircase was awful, like a wet carpet that had not been cleaned for years. The room was extremely dirty: dust on complimentary water bottles, dusty corners, dirty carpet, and filthy air-conditioning vents. No ventilation in the bathroom. After showering, the entire room became humid and needed over an hour to recover. Terrible lighting design. There is no proper separate light control for the bathroom, making it inconvenient to use, especially at night. The sink was partially blocked and regularly overflowed during normal use. No safe, kettle, fridge, USB charging ports, or international sockets—only UK plugs. An email sent to the hotel a week ago remains unanswered. ✅ Positive Good transport connection to the airport. The bus stop is about 5 minutes away on foot near Haymarket. 🌍 Background – Adult tourist, first time in Edinburgh.

Great experience, I got everything I would expect from a hub. Main thing for me is that it was quite. The room was clean and modern, the bedding fresh. The shower was also clean, no mold and the water pressure was just right. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help. Continental breakfast only but with good variety to choose from. They offer the baggage storage before the check-in and after the check-out, which is very helpful. The door to the rooms is locked and the lift can only be used with a key card. As a solo traveller I felt safe and welcomed.

Good location, walking distance everywhere. Breakfast adequate, fresh fruit always appreciated. Some of the staff didn't seem to enjoy their work very much so didn't feel welcoming at all times. Cleaning in room was poor. Carpet felt dusty, stains on wall.
