About Ivy Braveheart Guest House
Edinburgh's mix of city bustle and easy transport links makes Gilmore Place a practical base, and that's where Ivy Braveheart Guest House sits, among bus routes, pubs and restaurants within easy reach. The guest house has 17 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks provided, giving a straightforward, self-contained base for a city stay.
Breakfast is served on site, and free WiFi, luggage storage and 24 hour reception cover the practical side of things, useful for early starts or late arrivals. Nearby interests include golf, fishing, cycling and entertainment options, alongside the pubs and restaurants close by, so there's plenty to fill the time beyond the room itself.
Guests have found the beds comfortable and the location good value for the price, particularly for getting around by bus and finding somewhere to eat. That said, some rooms have been reported as not always well kept, and service has occasionally been described as unhelpful, so it suits travellers after a convenient, no-frills stay rather than a polished one.

Rooms are upstairs, and the stairs are carpeted. Would not say suitable for someone who has difficulty with stairs. The rooms are presented as tidy, however the furniture is old, and there is no cuteness to the rooms. We got there and found a lot of mold in the bathroom/shower. There was also mold in the electric teakettle. Carpet was ripped up. The bathroom had an automatic air freshener sprayer which was hung at eye level and very strong in scent. The shower was very slippery (slippery, and you had to step up into it and step down out of it), and I had to use a towel on the shower floor to try not to slip. When we asked the manager for a solution, he was very annoyed. It took three times during the conversation to ask for extra towels, thinking I could just continue to use a towel as a solution. The location is very good. It is close to several places to eat as well as bus stops. Would I stay here again? Possibly. The price was decent for the awesome location.

Fairly ordinary and dated. Didn’t get much in the way of a welcome. Beds very clean and comfy as was bathroom but toilet seat was cracked. OK for an overnight stay but not longer. Good location as not far from city but could do with a facelift.

Great size room and very close to all bus services etc so very easy to get around. BUT, bathroom hadn't been cleaned on arrival and had a very unpleasant smell throughout the stay. Owner did get housekeeping to clean the bathroom immediately which was good though.
