What visitors say

Joseph Kincaid

There is a small parking area for visitors in front of the factory, on entering the shop there are displays of the processes involved in kilt making. We had a look around the shop, I bought a leather sporan and my named tartan tie. We then asked for a tour. The guide was a young girl who was so articulate in describing all the different processes as we walked through the factory. The weaving is very noisy and we were supplied with earplugs. Definitely recommend using them. So many different types of threads producing so many different effects which makes their products so desirable to designers. We were astonished at what is produced. We got a chance to look for little waste items woven into the cloth and given tweezers to take them out. We saw a repair where a break had occurred. It was a lot to take in, but I now appreciate my kilt a whole lot more as it was made here.

Popped into visitor centre at the end of a busy afternoon. Very welcoming staff and totally accessable for walking aids and disability scooters. Very well presented history which envoked past memories of the mills.

Very friendly helpful lady helped my husband to choose material for tartan trousers. She then measured him and gave us an approximate date for when they would be ready.Very very good customer service, made us both feel relaxed and at ease and made us feel reassured that we were in capable hands and woukd receive the correct product. She explained the process of making the tartan from receiving the yarn right up to the weaving and pointed out that they do factory tours, which will definitely come back to do.Also assisted my husband to choose a tie to be made,to match his trousers.

Great little find. Traveling along A7 in foul weather. Followed signs to Visitors Centre. Limited parking but delightful small cafe. Knitwear and tweed section smallish but impressive. Tempted into buying some knitwear. Will definitely stop off again next time we're passing. If you're ever in need of a kilt this must be the place to visit.
