About Inn at Ardgour
Ardgour sits on the western side of Fort William, a quiet corner of the Highlands looking out over the loch, with Ben Nevis among the local landmarks worth the trip. Inn at Ardgour makes the most of that setting, a small 11-room hotel where the water is the main event and the pace is unhurried.
Rooms are en-suite and simply equipped, with family rooms available for those travelling in a group, though it's worth knowing that upkeep in some rooms has been flagged as inconsistent. The restaurant and bar are the heart of the place, serving freshly prepared dishes such as venison stew and haggis alongside a varied breakfast, and staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming. A garden, games room, and lounge with drinks service round out the facilities, along with free WiFi, meeting rooms, and free on-site parking.
Outside, the area suits walkers, cyclists, and anglers, with fishing, watersports, and a golf course all nearby, plus pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out. Loch Eil Outward Bound lies a short drive away, making this a practical base for exploring the wider Fort William area on foot or by car.
What guests say
Wonderful food and hospitality at The Inn at Ardgour. Fresh fish and beef that they can name the local farm who provided it. The menu has some different dishes, Asian and Indian, but classics too, kept everyone happy. You can taste the freshness. Views are beautiful with a lighthouse almost opposite and the ferry to and fro. Amazing sunsets. The staff - family owned - have been there 20 years and know how to look after guests, authentic and friendly. Definitely recommend stopping for a meal.or a drink when on your way. We didn't need to stay overnight but heard good things from others there.

Staying on the Bunree campsite this place is just a short walk and a 5 minute ferry away. We only popped in for a couple of drinks and the staff were very welcoming (brother and sister I think) and friendly. The food coming out looked lovely and clearly freshly prepared, we had a large meal on the afternoon so wasn’t intending on eating but couldn’t resist sampling a couple of small plates. We had loaded nachos, Chicken and some chips, all of which were fantastic.

Good - Food was great especially breakfast which was superb, we ate in the pub overlooking the loch which was lovely, really good. Staff were OK but Zak was first class, a geat asset to the business. Very dog friendly stop. Bad - Rooms were very poor, so many notices. Not the comfy cosy highland retreat you might expect. Old Covid stickers, No Smoking signs all over, 7 stickers/ notices in our bedroom, 4 in the bathroom, just not nice rooms. There's been no smoking inside in the UK for nearly 20 years and hand washing notices, come on! TV was monitor size, very old, just poor. Beds, bedding and pillows just cheap. We stayed in 12 places while touring Scotland and this was the worst stop for the £200 cost. The stop was maybe worth £100, no more. Many reviews say cosy etc but I'm not sure where they stayed or have stayed before. The restaurant was depressing with plastic table covers and just tables and chairs no ambiance. Felt like an after thought, quite a stretch to call it a restaurant. It just needs working on as location is good. It's more 4 star hostel. I'm sad to review it like this but if your staying here don't set your expectations too high apart from the food.
