I recently had the pleasure of attending a meeting with a fizz reception and dining in the crypt. A very interesting building dating back to Roman times. The food was pretty good (small portions) and the seating very tight which made it difficult to enjoy the meal.

I enjoyed my visit to one of London’s most historic buildings which is also of architectural importance. The Guildhall is at the centre of the City of London and its emergence as one of the great commercial centres of the world. As well as an art gallery, there are various statues of historic figures, various event spaces and an eatery. I was there for a marketplace event and to view Robert Beckford’s statue for research purposes!

Beautiful building and not usually open to the public. I had the festive lunch, we got a load of wine which was nice, they had people refilling it and the wine was good. The main was good but 4 ant sized blocks of potato is honesty ridiculous and a mere 3 brussel sprouts also felt a little silly. The chicken was moist and the dish itself was pretty good but why it lacked so much on the cheapest ingredients, the vegetables is beyond me and let it down somewhat overall as a dish. It felt a little incomplete or lacking. The sticky toffee pudding was good as any I’ve had which is very good and the tea was a good blend. The Christmas market was a good one in beautiful location but I’d like to have seen more food stalls as the ones I saw were sold out and not many around.

My friend picked up a well deserved award for his noble work in needy parts of the world. It also recognises the broader humanitarian efforts of Community Outreach UK, a registered charity.
