About Alexander Thomson Hotel

For anyone visiting Glasgow for a conference, concert or event at the Scottish Event Campus, the Alexander Thomson Hotel offers a straightforward base on Argyle Street. It occupies a Victorian-era building and holds 125 rooms and suites, kept simple rather than lavish, making it a practical choice for travellers who want a comfortable bed and decent facilities without paying for extras they won't use.

Guests get breakfast included, free Wi-Fi throughout and the odd homely touch such as cookies on arrival. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar on site, a gym, spa and sauna, and an indoor swimming pool, along with a garden for a quieter moment away from the city streets. Practical extras include free on-site parking, luggage storage, porter and concierge services, and the hotel also functions as a wedding venue for those planning a celebration in Glasgow.

Beyond the hotel doors, Argyle Street puts guests within reach of further restaurants, pubs and entertainment, alongside proximity to the Scottish Event Campus for those attending shows or exhibitions. It suits visitors after a functional, well-equipped stay in a central Glasgow location rather than a boutique experience.

This hotel was absolutely disgusting and I feel obligated to warn others to stay far away. From the moment I walked in, the doors were filthy and there was a horrible, nauseating smell throughout the room. The room itself was dirty beyond belief, the bed sheets were disgusting with visible blood stains and hairs, and to make it even worse, there were bed bugs in the bed. Nothing about this place felt clean or safe, and sleeping there was impossible. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to save themselves the trouble and book literally anywhere Else. this wouldn’t let me put pictures but honestly I have proof pictures and videos there was also socks and woman’s underwear that wasn’t mines down behind the radiator PLEASE DONT GO HERE! staff’s behaviour was disgraceful the manager was yelling at me for asking for fresh sheets honestly worst customer service worst hotel don’t go! I will try send pictures separately

Shocking customer service. We booked an older man into the hotel, who has very poor mobility, called to asked if they would assist him getting his bags out of the taxi, since the road outside the hotel is closed, the taxi was dropping him just around the corner, a few feet from the door. Reception said they would not help with his luggage, even after explaining how ill this man was. Horrifying.

This is mainly used for refugees homeless people which means some may have issues. If you are an actual paying customer pick something else and do your research but it's not the sort of hotel you will want to be paying cash to stay at.
