Bala Barns - Hirnant

Photo: Bala Barns

Bala Barns - Hirnant is a converted barn offering a single bedroom and bathroom on two floors. Downstairs, an open-plan space combines living, dining and kitchen in one room, with a smart TV, electric cooking and a dishwasher. Upstairs, the bedroom holds a double bed (4ft 6in). The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Essentials including electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are covered. One dog stays free here, though must remain on a lead given the surrounding sheep farming; parking for two cars sits on the property.

The barn comes with an enclosed front patio and garden furniture, making a quiet spot to sit. It stands alone as a whole property in countryside near Bala, a market town in Gwynedd. The setting suits couples or solo travellers wanting to be based somewhere peaceful but within reach of the area's activities. Bala Lake lies close by, as does the Bala Lake Railway. Snowdonia National Park stretches across the wider region for walkers and outdoor types. No smoking inside the property.

Lovely place with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Admittedly, we didn't spend too much time in the cottage itself during our long weekend stay as we were busy out enjoying the beauty of Snowdonia most of the time. But, we enjoyed being able to come back to a hot bath, everything we needed to make some home cooked meals and a smart TV to watch films. The views from the barns are lovely and they are very dog friendly. Would definitely visit again in future!

Spent 5 days at Bala barns in a lovely cottage (Hirnant). Great location for our trips out and has superb views towards Bala and the surrounding hills and country side. Cottage was clean, cosy, warm and contained everything we required. Good communication through out, met by the friendly owner Susan on arrival and showed around, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee to get you started. Will recommend to family and friends.

Wonderful rooms with everything you could need, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, toilet rolls, towels, washing up liquid, soap and shampoo. Was lovely and clean and the views were lovely. The staff were so friendly and I would highly recommend it.

Just spent a week in Tegid cottage absolutely beautiful place and the accommodation was fantastic with fabulous hospitality. Ideal place for visiting North Wales, just a few miles from Bala we managed to visit most of the northern area, Betws-y-Coed, Capel Curig, Llanberis, Beaumaris, Llandudno, Conwy, Llyn Tegid, Lyme Vrynwy, Pistyll Rhyder falls, and much more. Definitely a place to visit if you’re looking for something special. Not even storm Eowyn could spoil this for us, especially as a tree brought down the electric line near the cottage, Sue a property owner was well prepared with a standby generator that managed to keep some low voltage for us, some lighting, tv etc she was checking in on us offering extra throws and candles and filling us up with coffee. Highly recommended.
