What visitors say
Was on a camping road trip with the wife as we got married back in October last year and wanted a little holiday and to show her all the great sights around Wales (we live in Pembs). Stayed down at a campsite near aber for the first couple of days and then spent our last night before going home at Tŷ Isaf Bala; originally we chose it as it was the only site around lake Bala that accepted same day bookings but after calling the owner with an enquiry we immediately knew we’d be coming back in the future before we’d even visited. She was incredibly friendly and helpful and overwhelming accommodating before we’d even arrived. It’s is a really nice and relaxed campsite with no curfews or super pedantic restrictions, the basic premise of the rules is: Don’t disturb other guests, don’t leave the place a tip, take your rubbing away and have a great time! We chose field 3 which is only a 3 minute walk from the shower/toilet block and it’s absolutely fantastic. Very flat pitches and a spectacular view of Eryri in the background. Showers were a lovely break from the heatwave and the ablutions were nice and clean. Invite the review that says “there’s not much going on around”, you’re a 10 minute drive from Lake Bala, there’s waterfalls, rivers and amazing villages to visit around and you’re only 40 minutes from Eryri national park. Everyone on camp was really friendly and cheerful too. Our spare gas bottle for our cooker somehow had leaked empty so asked one of the other guests and they even offered us the use of their camp cooker until we could find some more. Not really related to the camp but that’s the kind of great people that were on site with us. We will definitely be returning to this campsite in the future! 11/10, will come again.

Lovely flat pitches. We stayed in Field 2 pitch 2. I would recommend pitching on the opposite side of the field for the extra sunshine at the end of the day, as we were next to very tall trees and it was chilly in the shade. Toilets and showers located behind the cow shed but dont let that out you off. It's a bit dated but oh my...the showers were fantastic!! Just what you need after a sweaty day hiking! Only 3 miles from Bala where there were plenty shops, pubs and ice cream! The lake was fantastic. Very busy on a hot day but there was plenty of car parking spaces. Nice little park for kids and very spacious overall. I will definitely be coming back.

We stayed on the wild camping field, and what a tranquil delight it was. Seconds from your pitch you’re at the running water. There’s a portaloo, which was clean and stocked with toilet roll and sanitiser. We filled our water bottles at the main site and dropped our rubbish off on the way out. It was so peaceful and mind clearing being amongst the sound of birds singing and farm animals. The lovely owner came and said hello and filled us with knowledge about the fields surrounding us, it was really interesting. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, you’re respectful to others and your surroundings, then this is the place for you. Happy camping/van life!:)
