We had a 3 night stay at this lovely family farm campsite in April 2026, surrounded by playful newborn lambs! The owners were warm, welcoming, helpful and accomodating. They make a delicious hog roast for the campers on Saturday evenings, served on bread rolls, complete with homemade stuffing, apple sauce, and amazing cracking! The facilities are basic but clean - all you need for a relaxing break.

Rectory farm is an excellent CL with easy access and close to Uppingham. There is a lot of room for the pitches in a grass field that was kept well mown. We were very lucky with the weather for the first week and a half. The last few days were fairly wet but there is no worry about drainage. The field is next to a deep, steep but small valley that has never been cultivated. We had several visits from the young cattle who stood watching us through the fence for a while. The owners are very friendly and helpful and made our visit to Rutland that little bit more enjoyable If you are in the area, a visit to Oakham Castle is a must. There is a lot more to the castle than you might think and you may be able to chat to one of the very knowledgeable guides.
