Holmes Farm Country Cottages - Waxwing Cottage
Harborough
Photo: Google Maps
Waxwing Cottage stands on a working farm in the Leicestershire countryside, where walking and cycling routes run through the surrounding landscape. The village of Lubenham sits a mile away with a pub, 12th-century church and green; Foxton, also a mile distant, has the Grade II listed flight of ten locks on the Grand Union Canal. Market Harborough—five miles off—offers independent shops, restaurants and a train service to London.
The cottage is a single-storey conversion with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping up to six. The ground floor is open plan, with a living area featuring a woodburner, a kitchen with electric cooking and dishwasher opening onto a courtyard, and bedroom one with an en-suite shower. Two further bedrooms—one with a zip-and-link bed that converts to singles—share a family bathroom with bath and shower. Essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are provided, plus logs for the woodburner.
The real draw is the private hot tub for six in the enclosed courtyard. You have use of the owners' field and can park three cars on site. One dog is welcome. No smoking. Access is via four steps, though a ramp is available on request.
