Horsebox 1

Walk through a low doorway and up three steps into Horsebox 1, a converted horsebox on the Pengethley Park grounds. Downstairs is a single open-plan space combining living and dining, with a kitchen area equipped for proper cooking and a shower room. The bedroom sits in a galleried space above, reached by stairs, with a double bed (4ft 6in) and enough headroom to be comfortable. The whole setup has been adapted to function as a complete home, just compact.

Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. There's a welcome pack on arrival, private parking for one car, and a bike store. The grounds have a shared sitting area with garden furniture, and you get the run of 15 acres of parkland. Three steps in the grounds lead between levels, worth noting if mobility is a consideration. One dog stays free.

The location sits between the Wye Valley and Hereford itself, close enough to Symonds Yat, Goodrich Castle and the river for exploring, but anchored in quiet countryside. The nearest towns—Hereford, Worcester, Gloucester—are all within easy reach if you want a day out. No smoking inside.
