The Old Kennels Holidays - Foxwhelp
Herefordshire, County of
View on Google MapsFoxwhelp occupies a converted farm building at The Old Kennels, a 24-acre working orchard in the outskirts of Ledbury where cider apples are grown and pressed each autumn. The cottage sits at the quieter end of the site, named after a heritage apple variety. Everything is on one level: an open-plan living space with a smart TV, a kitchen fitted with an electric cooker, hob, microwave and dishwasher, and a bedroom with a king bed served by an ensuite shower room. One medium-sized dog stays free, and there is private parking for two cars on site.
Ledbury itself lies half a mile away—an easy walk downhill takes you to timber-framed streets, a 17th-century market hall, and a clutch of independent shops alongside two supermarkets. A pub sits within a mile. The town centre has a leisure centre with a swimming pool. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; a travel cot and highchair can be arranged if needed. The cottage suits couples and small families wanting to base themselves in this part of Herefordshire, whether to explore the surrounding countryside or simply to stay put in the back garden, which has a patio and furniture. No smoking inside.

The cottage was adequate for our needs, very clean and comfortable. The family owners are very friendly and helpful. Ledbury is a really nice small town or could be described as a large village, peaceful and picturesque with lovely shops and restaurants and pubs. We would definitely recommend staying at this accomodation.

I would definitely recommend here for a short stay, for us that was for 5 nights to visit family over the Christmas period. We stayed in the Yarlington Mill cottage which had a double and single room. Bonus was that dogs were welcome. The cottages are within walking distance of Ledbury with Tesco being about 1/2 mile away. They are situated in a working cider orchard off the main road up a short gravel path. The living area was decorated for the festive season and had an illuminated and decorated Christmas tree. Our host Annie was very friendly and helpful and made us feel most welcome. Overall I’d give it 4.5/5 as I mentioned fine for a short stay but this cottage would have its limitations for a longer visit, the cooker is basic, there is no washing machine although there is a compact dishwasher. There is also just a shower and no bath and it’s quite small.

The bungalow we are in is lovely. Foxwhelp, which means something I’m sure. But it’s nice. Quiet, very close to town (Ledbury) and local walks. Tv in lounge and bedroom. Great are for dogs… and the cider is lovely.
