Fern Cottage
Highland
The North West Highlands reveal themselves gradually from Fern Cottage's elevated position above open hillside. Seventy-five acres of natural grounds slope down to the coast, with the distinctive sandstone peaks of Quinag, Suilven and Canisp rising across the water. One of four properties on the estate, the cottage sits at the end of a private lane, surrounded by terrain that invites long coastal walks and beach exploration—Achmelvich's shell-sand bay is within reach on foot.
Fern Cottage has two bedrooms (one double, one with twin beds) and sleeps four. The ground floor holds an open-plan living and dining space with large windows framing the seaward views, a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, and a family bathroom with spa bath and shower. Essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. There's parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome, provided it stays on a lead—the surrounding hills are sheep country.
The location suits anyone who wants serious access to wild coastline without leaving the property. Red deer and otters move through the grounds; seals and occasional porpoises work the waters offshore. Sloping banks mark the terrain, so it rewards steady walking rather than rushing. No smoking inside.
