Thistle Cottage

The North West Highlands offer serious scope for outdoor activity, and Thistle Cottage sits on 75 acres of open ground where walking trails lead down to the coast. Achmelvich beach, with its shell-sand bay, is within reach, and the distinctive sandstone peaks of Quinag, Suilven and Canisp dominate the horizon. Mountain biking, climbing and fishing all happen in the area; the estate itself has paths to explore, though the grounds do have sloping banks. The cottage is one of four on the Cathair Dhubh Estate, accessed by its own private lane.

Inside, the ground floor is a single open space with large windows framing the coastal views. One end has the living area with seating and a television; the other holds a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, plus a dining table for four. A spa bath with shower serves the single bathroom. Upstairs, two bedrooms—one double, one with twin singles—have wood-lined walls and sloping ceilings. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included; the kitchen has everything needed to self-cater. One dog is welcome if kept on a lead. Parking for two cars is on site, and there is a highchair available if needed. The cottage is non-smoking throughout.
