Orchid Cottage

This semi-detached cottage sits on the Cathair Dhubh Estate near Ómarach, a 75-acre landscape of open hillside that drops to sandy bays. The setting is rural—accessed by private lane, with wonderful walks leading straight from the door down to the shoreline. The nearby beach at Achmelvich has white shell sand and sheltered coves. One dog is welcome, though must stay on a lead in this sheep country.

Ground floor is open plan: a living area with sofas and large windows frames the sea view, while the kitchen end has an electric cooker, dishwasher and space for four at the dining table. There's a bathroom with spa bath and shower. Upstairs, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom both have wood-lined walls and sloping ceilings. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are all included. Parking for two cars on site.

The coastline here is known for seals, porpoises and sea birds. Red deer and otters roam the grounds. Walks meander along the shore through sandy coves, and the distinctive sandstone mountains of the northwest Highlands form a backdrop throughout.
