Tawmans is a restored stone cottage topped with a turf roof, the kind of construction that predates thatch and was common in Viking times. The turf forms a protective layer of grasses and wildflowers, giving the building its most distinctive feature. Inside, everything is on one level: a living room with wood burner and TV, a kitchen with electric cooking, a bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a shower room. Electricity, bed linen, towels and the first logs for the burner are included.
The cottage sits on the Skye coast with views across open farmland towards the outer Hebrides, between Skye E-Bikes and the sea. An enclosed garden and parking for two cars come with the property. One small or medium dog is welcome. The location suits couples or solo travellers looking for somewhere quiet; the combination of thick stone walls, high ceilings and deep windows takes full advantage of the coastal light and outlook.
