About Bridge End Camping

Tucked into a working farm at the gateway to the western Lake District, Bridge End Camping delivers proper back-to-basics camping with hot showers, spotless facilities and stunning fell views. Non-electric grass pitches come with firepits (wood available on site), and you're just 100 yards from the River Irt for a morning dip or a spot of fishing. Wast Water lies 10 minutes' drive away, while Scafell Pike and the sublime Wasdale peaks are within walking distance for ambitious hikers.

The farm keeps friendly sheep you might get to meet, and the site can arrange afternoon tea or BBQ packs with local farm meat delivered to your pitch. Campers praise the excellent value, helpful owners and genuinely peaceful rural setting, though facilities can feel a touch basic if you're after more creature comforts. A pub sits five minutes' walk away, with more dining options in Gosforth (10 minutes) and Eskdale (20 minutes). For a simple, scenery-soaked Lake District base, this ticks all the boxes.

I absolutely loved staying at this campsite! 🌿⛺️ The campsite is clean, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning scenery. The views are incredible, and many beautiful places are within a 30-minute drive, making it a perfect base for exploring the area. The facilities are excellent, with hot water available for washing utensils and hot showers. The toilets are spotless and well maintained, with separate facilities for men and women. There is also convenient on-site parking. A great bonus is that guests have access to a fridge, microwave, and kettle, which makes camping much more comfortable and convenient. One of the best things is the price—just £16 per night for 2 people, 1 tent, and a car, which is fantastic value for money. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I had an amazing stay here and will definitely be coming back. If you’re looking for a peaceful campsite with excellent facilities, breathtaking views, and great value for money, I highly recommend this place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Decent facilities and very reasonable price. We hiked helvellyn straight from here. 15 min walk to the lake. Had amazing views of the mountains from the hill. Small campfires are allowed. Cash only

It's a nice place to stay for couple of days or even longer if you lucky to get a nice spot. A bit crowded, but we were there on a very busy weekend in the middle of summer. Some pitches are up on the hill which for me would be a big no, but on the other hand for some those might be nice secluded spots. With Silvia we were able to discuss were we would like to pitch and she was open and friendly. Definitely a great spot for a night when you go fishing or hiking all day. Toilets and showers were not busy, always clean.

Stayed here two nights as a family with two young children (5 years and 9 months old) and we were so impressed. We take our van all over the lake district as we don't live far away and honestly this is up there with our favourite sites. Although it is basic, it's location is fantastic, the facilities are clean and never too busy and the owners were very friendly. It was quiet and dog friendly. And they don't charge an arm and a leg like a lot of sites these days! We walked up to Thirlmere reservoir and we also did Raven Crag from the site which was great as it meant we didn't have to move our van. One of the days we went into Keswick and we did lose our spot but it wasn't a problem as there were plenty of other spaces. We will definitely be back!!
