About Thirlspot Farm Camping
Tucked between Keswick and Thirlmere, this small, adults-only site offers hardstanding and grass pitches in a working farm setting that's ideal for exploring the northern Lakes. Electric hook-ups are available, along with the basics—showers, toilets, drinking water—and dogs are welcome. The location is the real draw here: you're within easy reach of Helvellyn, Catbells and Derwentwater, making it a practical base for walkers.
That said, facilities are functional rather than fancy, and some visitors note the site can feel a little tired in places. If you're after peace, mountain access and don't need modern frills, Thirlspot Farm does the job without fuss.

What visitors say
Small, clean, electric if required. Despite being quite secluded, there seemed to be traffic on the road throughout the night. There's a lovely Inn right next door, serving quality food, drink and service.

Good value for money, decent pub next door serving food, water and electricity at each pitch. Cute little stream and pretty backdrop. The road is quite loud though.

We couldn’t agree more with the negative reviews. The owner was extremely unfriendly and rude and not welcoming at all. The showers are so old and horrible Avoid this campsite and look elsewhere.

Thank you Steve, great place to stay for walks. Enjoyed our stay, the jets made it extra special along with the very peaceful Thirlmere lake across the road. Thank you for telling us about the walks which we enjoyed very much. Ravens Cragg & Sticks Pass were amazing 👏 We will be back to do more fells. 😀 Great stop next to the King's Head Hotel which we also enjoyed.
