Fantastic stately home just outside Edinburgh. Staff were really knowledgeable and friendly. Great walks around the grounds and are all easy accessed. The cafe was expensive, but food was good quality and the cake selection was excellent.

Wonderful historic home. Truly excellent guides in the rooms, so please ask them questions. They have many stories to tell that you will miss if you don't ask. Many family portraits and photos. The cafe has snacks, not real meals, so plan accordingly; their desserts are excellent.

Beautiful grounds, shrubs and trees. Many trees are hundreds of years old. Some seeds brought back from the Himalayas and successfully planted in 1822. We enjoyed the Spring Garden trail and the Sea Walk trail. Lovely panoramic views of the Forth river looking towards Blackness Castle. Across the Forth to the Port of Rosyth & its shipyards. Completed our outing with tea and sweet treats at the Stable Kitchen.

We took our Grandaughter rround for the first time and she was very taken with the place and the history .The guides in different rooms were friendly and knowledgable . The roof top was open but if you are elderly its a bit of a climb but well worth the view when you Get there
