About The Coos Guest House

Culloden Battlefield lies within easy reach of The Coos Guest House, making it a sensible base for anyone keen to explore that piece of history, while Inverness city centre itself is just over a mile away for shops, restaurants and evening entertainment. A pub, bar and other eateries are also nearby, along with a golf course for those wanting to fill a free afternoon.

Rooms at The Coos are simple and unfussy, each with an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Breakfast is included, and a packed lunch can be arranged for days out. Guests can also make use of free WiFi, drinks in the room, and a garden patio for sitting outside when the weather allows.

Practical extras include free on-site parking, bike storage, and 24-hour reception, so arrival times are flexible. It's a relaxed, no-frills guesthouse rather than a luxury stay, suited to those who want a comfortable, well-located base for seeing Inverness and the surrounding area.

I was comfortable at the Coos and the keyless check in was easy to manage. For the price it was fine. I do feel the Coos struggles with its identity- is it a B and B, Hotel, Hostel? It has elements of all. The house has been converted in to multiple small rooms and ensuites with thin walls to maximise the number of people staying. The biggest drawback is you can hear others having conversations in thier rooms. There is a quiet policy from 10ish but as the walls are so thin you can hear others pretty easily. For some reason some guests decided to clean at 830pm one night I was there. There are common areas (indoor and outdoor) and a fridge for geusts to access before 830pm. I got the impression thay there is also cleaning of rooms done daily- based on sinage regarding dirty towels (I declined this) While there is a fridge there is no microwave or other appliances that might be useful if a fridge is being provided. In the room is a kettle and coffee maker but disposable paper cups and wooden stirers (for a place claiming sustainability proper mugs and cutlery would be much more fitting) It is a 10 min walk from the centre of Inverness and has an SPAR, Tesco and some laundromats near by. Overall an acceptable place to rest your head but nothing fancy.
