About The Royal Highland Hotel

Breakfast, a restaurant and a bar give The Royal Highland Hotel a solid base for the day, whether guests are heading out to Culloden Battlefield nearby or settling in after travelling. The hotel sits right by Inverness station, making it an easy stop for anyone arriving without a car, and there's also free on-site parking for those who drive up.

Inside, the lobby and staircase have a grand, historic character that guests notice as soon as they walk in. The 84 rooms are generally spacious, clean and comfortably furnished, though some are showing their age and maintenance has occasionally fallen short. A lift serves all floors, and drinks can be ordered to the room.

Beyond the restaurant and bar, there's a snack bar, garden and lounge areas, plus practical extras including laundry service, luggage storage and concierge help. The hotel also hosts weddings and meetings, with business services and meeting rooms on site. Pets are welcome, and pubs and restaurants nearby offer further options for evenings out.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the night staff. The room was clean and comfortable with all the usual and expected items and little luxuries. Even though located right next to the railway station, inside the hotel it was peaceful and quiet. The only criticism that I will make, and this is of Inverness Council and not of the Royal Highland Hotel, is that 80% to 90% of the disabled parking spaces in the 4 or 5 streets nearest to thd hotel were blocked by cars with no disabled badges. Fortunately the hotel staff managed to reserve for me a disabled bay next to the hotel, whdn if became vacant. There is no point in having designated disabled parking if the regulations are not enforced. The hotel and staff were great.

I absolutely love this hotel. The location is wonderful, the facilities are excellent and the staff are outstanding. We arrived on Monday evening and were met by the most delightful and helpful lady on reception called Mithu….really she couldn’t have done more to ensure that we felt happy and well cared for. We thank her most sincerely for being so brilliant and kind. The rooms are very comfortable…the bathrooms are lovely with fantastic showers and the free wi-fi is like lightening. We departed this morning after thoroughly enjoying our stay and will most certainly be back again. We give the Royal Highland Hotel a well deserved 10/10.

Very pleasantly surprised by the Royal Highland. I booked the cheapest, single room for one night only. The room was advertised as "cozy" and I expected to be in the broom cupboard (it was only one night and I didn't care where I slept). However, the room was lovely with a very large single bed, big bath with awesome water pressure. All the usual facilities and very clean. Well done and if I'm in Inverness again, this is where I'll be staying!

A magnificent traditional hotel, right next to the train station ! Friendly staff. A big beautiful bathroom. However, a lot of things are getting really old, like the elevator and the windows. Third floor rooms get quite hot because they are under the roof. Also, cleaning staff vacuuming before 8am is a big no no !
