A wood-fired hot tub sits in the garden at Bodwen, a sprawling Victorian property on the Isle of Wight that sleeps fourteen across seven bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house occupies nine acres of grounds with woodland, landscaped gardens, a children's play area and direct access to a private beach—a useful feature for families wanting to escape into nature without leaving the grounds. The estate runs along a private road near Ryde, with parking for six cars and cycle storage for exploring further afield.

Inside, the accommodation spreads across three floors. The ground floor holds two living spaces (one with a woodburner), a dining room and a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals. Bedrooms range from king-size doubles to bunks and zip-and-link arrangements, suiting different group compositions. Three bathrooms and two separate toilets mean less competition during mornings. Essentials including bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are covered; the kitchen has everything from a dishwasher to a combi microwave, and there's a utility room with a washing machine for longer stays.

The gardens offer sports equipment, a picnic area and various play equipment for children. The wood-fired hot tub requires bringing your own wood. No smoking throughout. The path to the beach involves sixty-four steps down from the garden level.

Absolutely Beautiful. If it could give it more than 5 stars I would. Bowden House was a lovely place to stay and is kept in wonderful condition. We stayed in the corner cottage part of the building which sleeps 6 and it had everything we needed and more! (Better equipped than my own house 😆) The rooms were nicely set out. The kids room had lots of games and toys to play with and was thought of well. I made use of the gas BBQ outside as the weather was very good during our stay. The gardens surrounding the building were beautiful and the kids loved playing and running round every moment they got. There is even a shed which is filled with garden toys and games for children and a dolls house to play with. It's surrounded by a picturesque coastline which led to some lovely photos. The little ones loved finding little crabs 😃 Peter was an amazing host, he checked in on us to make sure we didn't need anything every day and gave the kids a soft toy each too. He even prepared a lovely little hamper for us with treats upon arrival 🤤 Peter come down to the beach to see us off on the Ferry (where else would you get that kind of service?) We loved every minute of our stay and are possibly looking to come back next year to stay in the larger part of the house and bring more family along 😃

We were 14 ladies who rented this incredible house for a weekend. The host Peter was unbelievably helpful during the run up and during the break and we would not have been able to have such a successful and fabulous weekend his help. The house and grounds are stunning and we were very comfortable. The private beach is an added bonus! Highly recommend
