What guests say
We had an amazing two-night stay at Barton Hall Spa from the 21st of this month, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. A special thank you to the reception team, and especially Priscilla, who provided the best customer service I’ve experienced in years. After booking through Booking.com, I needed to change my dates, but Booking.com wouldn’t allow it and expected me to pay for an additional night’s stay. Priscilla patiently talked me through an alternative solution, kept a room aside for us while everything was sorted, and went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t lose our booking. Her professionalism, patience, and genuine willingness to help turned what could have been a very stressful situation into a seamless experience. From there, everything else lived up to that excellent first impression. Check-in was smooth, the bar had a great atmosphere, the rooms were comfortable and well presented, and the spa was fantastic. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and welcoming, and it’s clear this is a well-run establishment that takes pride in looking after its guests. We had a wonderful experience and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended!!

We chose Barton Hall for our wedding ceremony and reception and they have been absolutely flawless from the word go. Perfect communication making sure everything was ready for the big day, and the big day itself? Wow. Wow. Wow. Perfect from start to finish! The breakfast brought to the room where I was staying with my bridesmaids was absolutely top notch, and the room itself was stunning with incredibly comfortable beds. The ceremony went off without a hitch, guests were all kept fed and watered, if anything went wrong I had no idea about it, the wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious, the grounds were stunning, the in house DJ was an absolute legend, and the honeymoon suite was to die for. But the absolute best part of Barton Hall is the staff. Naomi the wedding coordinator was endlessly patient with us while we ummed and ahhed over every decision, and accommodated absolutely everything we requested. The bar and waiting staff - Winter, Rachel, and everyone else who's names I was too drunk to remember - were amazing in the face of 40+ hard to understand scousers descending on the bar. But what struck me the most is that they all looked like they were genuinely enjoying themselves as well, which was absolutely wonderful to see and made me very happy. They're all such lovely people and a laugh to talk to, it felt like they were our friends and were there as guests rather than staff. Shelley, well Shelley is my new best friend. She could not have done more to look after us, she truly went above and beyond. We didn't have to ask for anything, our flowers were put safely in water without us saying a word, the reception room was laid out to perfection, guests with extra needs were accommodated to with care and respect, she would not see the bride and groom without drinks in their hands - she even whisked away my petticoat to my bedroom after I mentioned I was very hot under all the layers. Again, it felt like I had a friend looking after me and she made me so relaxed on my way to the ceremony. Keith the toast master, what a legend. He kept everything running very smoothly without being bossy or making anyone feel rushed around, he listened to what we wanted and referred to us how we wanted to be referred to, he did a really lovely speech that added a very sweet moment to the meal, and he even listened to my "walking down the aisle" song and timed my entrance perfectly to match up with the music. The DJ from Big Bopper (sorry mate I was plastered by the evening I don't remember your name 😭) was fantastic. He played all of our requests and adapted the playlist we'd given him to match what people were actually dancing to so the dance floor was never empty. He made the evening very fun for everyone from the groom's 90 year old grandad down to our 3 year old cousin. In fact one of our guests wrote in the guest book that it was the best wedding playlist ever so I'd take that as a success! To conclude my essay, I just want to say that Barton Hall and their incredible staff made my wedding day quite literally perfect - there is not a single thing I would have changed. You're all diamonds and I love you.

Got a room with a four post bed. It was a spacious room with a big bathroom. Separate shower and bathtub, good shampoo, conditioner and body wash also good hand soap. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Had a very small set of stairs in the middle of the room between the bed and bathroom which was odd but no problem. But if you do have difficulty with that I’m sure they would be able to accommodate you if you’d tell them at the reception. Did not try any of the other accommodations as it was a business trip for me.

I usually prefer to call hotels directly to book, but this time it was actually cheaper through Booking.com, which surprised me. Overall, I had a very good stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable — I really loved them. The main reason I’m writing this review is because of the two girls working in the bar and restaurant. Their service was absolutely impeccable — friendly, professional, efficient, and genuinely happy in their work. They really made the experience special, and their hard work deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the level of service. My friend felt his pork chop was overpriced, especially as the vegetables were hidden underneath and the presentation wasn’t great. My Caesar salad was okay, but it was overdressed and the croutons were large chunks of bread rather than nicely prepared pieces. The chicken wings were good, though, I was so hungry that rather than complaining I end up eating it ,It was also disappointing that there was only one salad option on the menu, and overall the menu felt a bit tired — I was expecting better. There was also a small inconsistency in communication at reception, which added to why this isn’t a 5-star review. Bar service: 100% Restaurant food: Not really. Rooms: Excellent Would I visit or recommend the hotel? 100% yes. With some improvements to the food and menu presentation, this could easily be a 5-star experience.
