About Travelodge Kingston Upon Thames Central
Travelogde Kingston Upon Thames Central suits anyone after a straightforward, affordable base rather than a destination in itself - visitors passing through for shopping, work, or a night before exploring further afield. With 102 rooms across six floors, it's a practical option for solo travellers, couples or families who want en-suite comfort without extras they won't use.
Rooms come with the usual Travelodge basics, and the hotel adds a restaurant, breakfast service, drinks available in-room, and 24 hour reception for late arrivals or early starts. Accessible rooms are available, pets are welcome, and there's an electric vehicle charge point on site, with chargeable parking two minutes away at the Cattle Market Car Park on Fairfield North. Staff are generally helpful and rooms are kept clean, though it's worth knowing the lifts have been reported as unreliable and the stairwells not always well maintained, so those on higher floors should factor that in.
The location is the real draw: shops, restaurants and a pub or two sit close by, a KFC is nearby for something quick, and rail links make onward travel easy. Hampton Court Palace and the River Thames are both within easy reach, making this a sensible spot for a short break built around exploring rather than lingering in the hotel itself.
What guests say
As many have mentioned, lifts not working which is fantastic walking up 10 flights of stairs with 2 toddlers, luggage and a disabled father recovering from a heart attack. Staff originally placed my family on the second floor (6th) and my father on the 5th floor (10th!). Rooms were covered in stains and the bathroom was falling apart. Toilet did not flush properly and staff did not seem to be bothered really. Disappointing really as we usually have a good experience with Travelodge

Boiling hot in rooms. No air con. 1 lift broken for weeks and now both lifts broken. I check in and im told there isnt water so today I cant shower. I get put onto the 5th (10th) floor so 10 flights of stairs to get to my room. I wasn't offered anything at all in compensation, not even free WiFi. Also the restaurant is very basic i wouldn't bother using it. The rooms are extremely basic, the old outdated tv is useless.

I arrived in the middle of a heatwave for a concert at Wembley statium. This was also the weekend of the England vs Norway World Cup match. When I arrived the interior immediately looked shabby and run down with some kind of work going on which I had no clue about when I booked. There was only a single very slow lift in semi working order when I first arrived and while the staff member at reception was kind they did inform me that every room below the 5th floor was taken and the rooms up there were 'a bit warm'. I grabbed my key card and headed up to my room where I was met with intense heat, it was somehow even hotter than being in direct sunlight outside, the room itself was a very old outdated kind of room, poor shower, very small bathroom, tiny 7" desk fan as the only help against the heat and a truly massive 15-20" television looking awkward mounted on the wall. The first two nights of my stay the room did it's job of providing somewhere safe to sleep, even if the heat was truly unbearable, however the final day of my stay the last remaining customer lift fully broke down. For the last day and night of my stay anytime I wanted to leave the hotel or return to my room I would have to walk down or up 7-9 floors of stairs, due to the staff levels being between the ground floor and reception floor. The only lift breaking down was bad enough but the final night of my stay a fire alarm was triggered at around 2-3am which meant lots of guests locking themselves out of their rooms and especially the guests on the upper floors needing to travel down multiple flights of stairs with many being elderly, injured or disabled. I would recommend spending a little bit more money to stay somewhere slightly better with slightly more modern commenities.

I would avoid in the future. And I would not recommend to anyone else. First of all very much disappointed that housekeeping team entered the room we continue to take as the reception failed to pass the message that we are continuing to take for two more days. Rooms have poor ventilation and floors were not properly cleaned. Lifts were not functioning and can stop at any point. One of our friends trapped there and on the same day another guest also trapped there. My wife who had knee injury had to walk all the way down from level 5 which is literally 10th floor. Location was the only thing favourable but others were disappointing.

People say this hotel has a handy location, with clean and comfortable rooms, and helpful, friendly staff.
Other reviews mention the lifts can be consistently out of order and the stairwells can be poorly maintained.
