About Travelodge London Kingston Upon Thames
Seventy-two rooms across four floors make up Travelodge London Kingston Upon Thames, a straightforward budget base in the centre of town. Rooms are en-suite with drinks available on request, and there's a lift, 24 hour reception and accessible rooms for those who need them. Pets are welcome too, so it suits a wider range of travellers than the average city hotel.
Housekeeping tends to be a strong point, with rooms kept clean and staff generally helpful, though some guests have found service a little inconsistent and noted that rooms nearest the road or communal areas can be noisy. There's no on-site restaurant, but pubs, bars and eateries are all nearby for food and drink.
The location is the main draw: shops and the station are within easy reach, and Hampton Court Palace is close enough for a day trip. Parking isn't on-site, but chargeable parking is available a short walk away at the Cattle Market Car Park, and there's an electric vehicle charge point for those who need it.
What guests say
You know what you're getting with a Travelodge, location and convenience, it's not about luxury. You're usually using it as a place to get your head down after a good booze up. That being said, this one was a bit lackluster still and it didn't help that we could barely understand the guy on reception. Diversity is important though, so they say.

We stayed over night after an event at Circuit. Room 203 which was an accessible twin. It was quiet, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We stayed on a Tuesday night, so no excessive noise from inside our outside over night. Big thanks to Nadine who warmly welcomed us and answered and questions we had, and Melanie who was also lovely and stored our case on check out so we could go for a wander before going home. I would definitely stay again and would feel safe if I was travelling alone.

Have you ever wanted to experience the fire-blasted surfaces of Venus, where temperatures reach over 400°C? Well, now you can! Why go anywhere else when the world's sweatiest meat-box is yours to rent in Kingston upon Thames! Enjoy the sensational cooling breezes in the highly luxurious Lobby (leaving your Soul on the bench is advised), before checking into your own private Dutch oven. A single fan is equipped in each room, but if you're lucky enough to have brought your own you can upgrade this spectacular experience from a Hellish Crematorium to the searing winds of the Permian extinction, somewhat akin to the Terminator film. The only foreseeable upside of aircon in this place would be to prevent the sweats from places I didn't know existed, in inanimate objects I didn't know existed, in a room that is by itself, a fire hazard. The only reason the bathroom door won't shut when the toilet seat is down is (I assume) so that the walls can absorb nutrient-rich fire-retardant bog-water so as to not catch fire. I'm not saying the room is hot; I am saying the Roman God Vulcan would have a hard time sleeping in this furnace. Nothing beats that holiday feeling of walking into the room on day 2 of 3 in July to the smells of roasted toe-beans and sweaty-curtains. You definitely don't need to worry about bed bugs (we checked) as the only remains would be shadow marks from the radiated heat blasting. I'm not saying the room is hot; I am saying that the Sun might be a bit of a peeper and have a very direct and personal interest in this hotel though. And let's not forget the views! Do you like concrete? Concrete and brick? And mortar? Humanities greatest insulators in one place? My word you're in for a treat! The only thing to surpass this most majestic of vistas is the fact that our rooms weren't even hotter, surrounded by all these baking necessities! I'm not saying the room is hot; I am saying the citizen's of Dante's Peak likely slept better during the Pierce Brosnan years. Speaking of, it's just as well there isn't a bathtub to fill with ice and coldwater either; in no time at all you'd boil away to bone like a skinny dipper in a volcanic sulphur pool. Free perks include hot towels, hot pillows, and pre-warmed clothes which I've never experienced before; from Australia to Japan to Singapore. However. The staff were lovely, the room was clean, and everything we needed was provided. But would I stay here again on-season, March-October, when Surtr has had a wee practice bringing the fires of Ragnarok specifically to my room? No. Would I stay here again off-season November-February? Yes.

I had a pleasant enough stay but will give only 4 stars because the bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in a while and there was a soil stain on one of the towels that came off when I brushed over it with my hand. If you're a light sleeper you want to bring good earplugs because the windows are not soundproofed at all and there is quite a bit of noise coming from around the hotel at all times especially on weekends. But all in all I enjoyed my stay and can recommend it to anyone looking for a casual place to stay for a couple of nights in the area.
