About Ardconnel Bed and Breakfast

Rooms at Ardconnel Bed and Breakfast come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks provided, free WiFi and views out to the sea, decorated in a relaxed, country style that guests find comfortable rather than formal. It's the kind of place where you walk in and feel able to put your feet up, with the practicalities - laundry service, packed lunches for a day out, 24 hour reception - taken care of alongside the basics.

The B&B sits on Craigiefield Road in Kirkwall, on Orkney, with free on-site parking and a garden and outdoor seating area for making the most of the setting. Breakfast is included, and pets are welcome, making it a straightforward base whether travelling with family or on your own.

Kirkwall itself and Kirkwall Airport are both within reach, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, watersports, cycling and walking, along with nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment. It's a fair base for exploring Orkney at a gentle pace, with everything needed close by rather than a long drive away.

We arrived at 11.30 pm off the ferry from Lerwick and were met by Theresa our friendly host. The location was ideal, just 10 minutes from the terminal but was quiet and surrounded by fields. Our room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Highly recommended.

We spent 3 nights in this lovely B&B, everything was perfect, nice room, delicious breakfast and very friendly host. It's a nice 15 walk to the town center with shops and restaurants. Be sure to check out the cute Highland Cows in the pasture right next to the B&B!

If you travel to Orkney you do yourself a disservice if you don’t stay here. I traveled with 4 family members and we all agree this was our favorite night in Scotland. Tressa is an amazing host. She welcomed us and made us feel at home in delightful rooms all with comfortable beds, nice pillows and clean fresh smelling (but not overly fragranced) bedding. Each room had an en-suite which could accommodate 2 people at one time. We had 3 rooms and all had lovely views. She brought the highland cows and calves to the fence so we could see them close up. Breakfast was to order with fresh local ingredients. Truly delicious. Shelby, the golden lab, wished us all well on our journey. If we lived in Scotland we would come here regularly. Don’t miss this gem.

Theresa couldn’t have been more welcoming. The room was immaculate, the breakfast was delicious and generous and the view was beautiful. It was the perfect ending to our 5 week UK trip. Would book this again in a heart beat!
