The Coach House

Photo: Coach House, Bentham

Families with children of varying ages, multigenerational groups, and those travelling with a dog will find The Coach House well suited to their needs. The three bedrooms—a double, a bunk room, and a zip-and-link master bedroom that can be split into twins—offer flexibility across different ages and arrangements. One bathroom serves the property. Everything is contained within a single courtyard building with parking for three cars on site, so you have the whole place to yourselves with no shared access.

The ground floor is open-plan, combining living, dining and kitchen areas where you can cook full meals using an electric oven and hob. Upstairs, bedrooms are spread across two levels. A family bathroom with bath and shower is on the first floor. The property includes wifi, heating, bed linen and towels. One dog stays free; the enclosed grounds contain a children's play area with swings, climbing frame and trampoline, and a separate dog exercise area. There is a communal laundry room, a sitting-out area with garden furniture and a barbecue for outdoor cooking.

The Coach House stands in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, a short distance south of the Lake District. The coastal setting means easy access to both fell walking and beach visits. No smoking is permitted inside the property.

Good lager selection. The beer goggles is a really nice drink. Atmosphere let it down a little. We aren't shy and retiring by any stretch of the imagination but to say it was 4.30pm on a Saturday afternoon it was very loud and both inside and out as it was a very warm day. Few large groups who'd been there a good few hours having too much sun and drink. Would give the place another try if we're in Bentham again.

A truly outstanding visit to the Coach House, Bentham. A special thank you to Sammi the chef, Sharon and team for excellent service, and owner Russ for creating such a fantastic venue. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and genuinely inviting. The food was exceptional. Beautifully presented and prepared to an incredibly high standard. The burgers were nothing short of Michelin-level creations, packed with flavour and presented with real care and attention to detail. Every plate leaving the kitchen looked impressive. My wife and son brought me here as a Father's Day treat, and what a brilliant choice it was. Needless to say, we will certainly be returning. The Coach House perfectly combines traditional countryside pub charm with modern dining excellence. The low beams, character features and old-world ambience create a wonderful setting, while the contemporary menu and presentation elevate the entire experience. The prices are refreshingly fair for the quality on offer, providing excellent value for money. It's clear that great pride is taken in every aspect of the business, from the food and service to the overall customer experience. In a time when traditional British pubs face many challenges, establishments such as the Coach House deserve recognition for keeping the spirit of the great British pub alive while successfully embracing modern standards. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area. A superb atmosphere, exceptional food, friendly staff and a genuine commitment to hospitality make this a venue worthy of any patron. Five stars without hesitation Thank you guys Col.M

Great pub! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The locals were equally warm and chatty, creating a genuine community atmosphere that's hard to find these days. The food was excellent—fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavour. Combined with the great service and friendly surroundings, it made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. A wonderful pub that I'd happily recommend and will definitely be returning to.

Great pub with wonderful staff. The food is well presented and fairly priced. The Robinsons Unicorn ale is outstanding. Madison made us feel very welcome and the pub breakfasts are very good.
