About Croft Hotel
Leicester has plenty of options for a straightforward overnight stay, and the Croft Hotel on Stanley Road is one of the simpler ones. Housed in a building dating from the 1900s, it combines the character of its age with the practical basics travellers need, including a bar and a function room that give it a slightly old-fashioned, community feel rather than a polished chain-hotel one.
Rooms at the Croft Hotel are unfussy, with some offering en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi and drinks available in the room. Family rooms are on offer for those travelling with children, and there's luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Meeting rooms make it a workable choice for small business gatherings alongside overnight guests.
A restaurant on site covers meals without the need to go far, while a pub or bar, further restaurants and entertainment can all be found nearby. Golf is also within reach for guests wanting to fill some time outdoors. It's a no-frills base for exploring Leicester rather than a destination in itself.

What guests say
Clean room with clean towels and sheets. Shower seemed decent and bathroom recently renovated? Reasonable decor. Felt reasonably safe staying there. Very close to uni - 15 min walk. Tv didn't work. Kettle but no drinkable water. "Put sanitary products in bin" but no bin. Parking confusing, felt like I was risking a fine everytime I used it. Car park dead but hotel full of waifs and strays (halfway house?). Communal areas didn't smell pleasant and stained. Floorboards uneven at top of stairs. Please read TripAdvisor reviews.

Stayed here one night in 2023 and for my sins had to deal with bed-bugs at home for a week. I emailed them to let them know at the time but was completely ignored. came up in conversation today which reminded me to leave a well-deserved review :) take care of yourselves and book somewhere else!

So booked purely on price, some mixed reviews. I booked on hotels.com so 2 nights Mon,Tues cost £108 quid , car park is small and anpr so put ur reg in at reception, no deposit taken for keys as it did state this and proof of I'd on arrival. I was in room 26 so up 2 flights of stairs, the bathroom has been refurbished . TV no remote control. Don't know WiFi password , wasn't provided. Room was clean , beds made each day. Decor old , hairdrier , heater ,kettle in room . It's OK for limited budget, Bed was cheap but comfy. Based on price it's OK.

It's in a decent location, near the main road and an easy walk to the university of Leicester. Staff were polite and efficient although the place was extremely dirty and my room was in a poor condition, with a visible hole in the bathroom floor below the toilet and black mold on most of the walls. Lots of the other guests staying seem to be homeless/addicts and this meant there was lots of shouting and disturbance during the night. Overall I wouldn't recommend staying here over anywhere else at a similar price point.
