About The Star Inn 1744

The Star Inn 1744 takes its name from the date over the door, and that heritage feel runs through this pub-hotel on The Green in Leicester. It's a place built around its bar and restaurant as much as its rooms, with the kind of cosy, welcoming atmosphere that comes from staff who know their regulars and look after their guests.

Rooms are en-suite with large beds and air conditioning, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children, who are also catered for with a dedicated kids' menu. Breakfast is served on site, and the restaurant is well regarded for its food, particularly a popular Sunday lunch, though quality has occasionally been reported as uneven. Outdoor seating, a bar, free WiFi, drinks in the room and meeting rooms round out the practical offer, and free on-site parking is a genuine convenience in this part of Leicester.

The National Space Centre is within reach for a day out, and the surrounding area has further pubs, bars and restaurants for evenings out beyond the inn itself. Sileby lies a short distance away for those wanting to explore further into Leicestershire.

Lovely pub with nine double rooms, all good sizes and many with air con, lovely to keep the room cool in the warm summer weather. Fabulous staff, helpful and friendly. Evening meal portions are huge and very tasty, decent value too. Continental breakfast included in the room rate is also decent with fruit, cereal, juices, toast, hot drinks, yoghurt and dairy/non-dairy too.

We had a birthday party at The Star and the food was delicious. The chef was so accommodating to all our guests and everyone said how much they loved the food. Lovely garden with beer on tap. A couple of guests stayed over and loved their room. Lovely pub in a beautiful village.

Stayed for one night to attend a school reunion. I didn't get a chance to eat dinner but the menu looked good. Breakfast was very good but a cooked meal came at additional cost. The room was immaculately clean with a large comfortable bed. A selection of high quality biscuits and hot drinks were provided in the room. I was delighted that air-conditioning was provided which worked well. Considering it's a pub, the room was quiet. In the bar, decent real ales are available. The Star is set in a very pretty village. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, thoroughly recommend with nothing not to like!

We had a lovely time here - we went for a drink and a lovely staff member brought out some free and delicious canapés! There was ABBA music being played in the beer garden and that made for a really nice vibe. Very welcoming staff, highly recommended.
