About Ascot Hyde Park Hotel

Ascot Hyde Park Hotel occupies a terraced townhouse building on Craven Road, one of a row of similar properties in this part of London, converted to hold 66 guest rooms across several floors served by a lift. It's a straightforward, no-frills base rather than a grand hotel, but the location close to Paddington Station makes it a practical choice for visitors wanting easy onward travel and access to the city's attractions.

Rooms come with drinks available on request, and the beds are a consistent strong point. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar for evening meals and drinks, plus a snack bar and breakfast service to start the day, while a small garden offers a spot to sit outside. Free WiFi runs throughout, and practical extras such as luggage storage and a laundry service are useful for longer stays or those breaking up a journey. It's worth noting that some rooms show their age and could do with better upkeep, and staff helpfulness has been inconsistent, so this suits guests prioritising location and value over polish.

Free on-site parking is a genuine plus in a part of London where parking is otherwise scarce and costly. Beyond the hotel doors, Craven Road sits within walking distance of pubs, restaurants and other eateries, and the wider area has plenty going on in the evenings. For a family day out further afield, Chessington World of Adventures is within reach too.

I wasn’t going to leave a review but the woman at the front desk while checking out was so unfriendly and so unhelpful, I felt compelled to. My partner and I checked out at 11:15am and wanted to grab breakfast and asked if she could store our luggage for an hour for us. She charged us 20£ (5£ a bag including a small cross body bag) which I was shocked by and asked, really this is just for an hour… (it is also more expensive than the luggage storage place 100 meters away) and she said, yes very rudely with zero understanding and compassion. I have come and stayed in London over a dozen times and never once have I paid such exuberant prices at a hotel for such a small requested, especially with so much attitude! The worst part was when we got back the luggage was still by the desk, unlocked and unattended with a line of people in the queue and many guests in the lobby. Hoping nothing was stolen but I cannot believe for that much money she wouldn’t even actually lock up the luggage in their luggage room. The rooms are also quite small (no room to even put your suitcase anywhere but the bed you’re sleeping on), and as others have said the lift is broken and there are many stairs. There is also a heatwave in the London atm and there is only a small fan and no circulation in the room so it was pretty unbearable to be inside during the day especially. You can also feel the springs inside the mattress. For the small amount of money you save on the rooms, you pay for it in many other ways. I wish I had picked a different hotel in hindsight.

Well never actually got to stay in this downtrodden place, But after booking using my Points on Hotels.com, I researched into this place and saw photographs on Google under reviews, I noticed people have complained about bedbugs. Plus one woman has uploaded photographs of her with bites and rashes from sleeping at hotel. The place is in a very good location in the heart of Paddington London but, should be avoided at all costs. Hotels.com try to get my points back by communicating with The Hotel for a waiver but this was not carried out and so did not get my points back. The staff at The Hotel were quite rude and one of them actually said, “If you can’t afford the £50 deposit you should stay somewhere else”. So yes, they charge an additional £50 deposit when you check in. I think the reason this is the case is because they have had people stay that have damaged the place, As it’s quite a rundown Hotel, And so obviously, if anyone else does any damages, they’re covered with a £50 deposit. The rooms looked in quite need a refurbishment in terms of the photographs I’ve seen that other people have uploaded on Google reviews. It looks quite unclean, And the amount of people that about bedbugs is quite a lot if you read the reviews under this Hotel. They don’t even do breakfast. So In my opinion, I would avoid this place at all costs. It’s probably better to sleep in a tent. I would get this 0 out of 5 rating, but apparently I have to select one star.

The hotel is located close to several attractions. You can take a walk to places like Oxford Street, and it’s easy to get to Westminster by bus or metro, where you’ll find Big Ben and other landmarks. Buckingham Palace is also quite nearby. The cleaning was good and the room was clean. Disliked · Room 408 The bathroom faucet was not properly fixed in place; it kept moving, and we were worried it might break. The window handle was also broken. When we opened the window for the first time, it came loose, and we could no longer close it properly. I read a review from 4 months ago mentioning that the elevator was out of order—and it was still not working during our stay. It was quite a workout going up and down the stairs every day. The floor felt unstable, but it wasn’t a major issue—we could live with it. They do not respond to messages sent via Booking.

Very shady hotel. They wouldn’t let me cancel my reservation, probably to refuse a refund. They told me to leave and they would send a refund and cancel my reservation and now they are being shady about it. Entire hotel smells like smoke even though they advertise a smoke free hotel. I am pregnant so I was very scared to the health of my baby and I couldn’t stay. They refused to give me a refund. Not only are rooms filled with cigarette smells, they smell of food, vape, and bo. They are also very hot!! No ac! They have fans that do not work. You can easily open the windows because there’s no lock on it! Which is ironic because they have a sign to close the window for child safety. Very sketchy area for both women, men, and families. Front desk guys are super unhelpful.
