About Blandford Hotel
Blandford Hotel occupies a townhouse-style building on Chiltern Street, one of a row of period properties in this part of London, and holds 34 rooms across the property. Inside, the rooms are well-kept and properly equipped, with comfortable beds and reliable showers, though air conditioning in some rooms has been known to struggle in warmer weather.
Breakfast is a highlight, with a generous spread of options served each morning, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for other meals and drinks, including the option of drinks brought to the room. Guests have access to a lift, luggage storage, concierge services, meeting rooms, and free on-site parking, and the hotel also caters for weddings. Staff are consistently described as helpful and friendly.
The location is a genuine strength, sitting quietly yet within easy reach of public transport links and everyday amenities. Nearby, there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries within walking distance, along with further entertainment options in the surrounding streets.

What guests say
Our stay was overshadowed by the conduct of one staff member, whose attitude became increasingly sarcastic, condescending, and antagonistic after we raised concerns about the air conditioning. When we questioned why the room remained so warm, we were told, “The air conditioning is on and working. It’s a heatwave, what do you expect?” We were then informed that we hadn’t booked a room with air conditioning. The following day, that same staff member contradicted her earlier explanation by telling us that we had, in fact, been allocated one of the hotel’s limited air-conditioned rooms. Receiving conflicting information from the same staff member did little to inspire confidence. To make matters worse, housekeeping opened the windows every day while servicing the room, despite the ongoing heatwave and our repeated concerns about the air conditioning. Every time we returned, the room was unbearably hot, leaving the already ineffective air conditioning unable to cool it to a comfortable temperature. Throughout these interactions, the same staff member kept her AirPods in and appeared to be engaged in a personal conversation while assisting guests. Rather than feeling listened to or supported, we were left with the impression that our concerns were an inconvenience. Professional, respectful customer service should be the standard, particularly when guests raise legitimate issues with their accommodation. The manager eventually offered to refund the remaining two nights of our stay if we checked out early. However, the offer came with an unrealistic condition: we were expected to immediately abandon our plans for the day, return to the hotel, pack all of our belongings, and vacate the room before housekeeping finished, giving us less than two hours’ notice. As tourists already out exploring London, this simply wasn’t possible. Presenting this as a genuine solution was, in our view, completely unreasonable. A reasonable resolution should have been one that guests had a realistic opportunity to accept, rather than one that was effectively impossible to act on. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this hotel. Prospective guests would be well advised to avoid it altogether and consider alternative accommodation.

Two hours priior to check in time, arranged for bags to be stored which ead free of charge. Upon check in, our room had been upgraded from standard to executive double, again without any added cost. The bed was a large comfortable double in room 33 on the 3rd floor, giving a restful sleep after busy days in London. The hotel is ideally situated with easy access to transport, food and drink and landmarks. If you do stay, take time to try a pizza at Alley Cats Pizza, just around the corner... Should we be visiting London again, would definitely stay at the Blandford again!!
