A family-run hotel on Nottingham Place with a 24-hour wine bar, minutes from Baker Street and Madame Tussauds in central London.

About Hotel La Place

A wine bar open around the clock is the kind of thing you don't expect from a small family-run hotel, but that's exactly what sets Hotel La Place apart on Nottingham Place in central London. It's a traditional, no-frills sort of place, well placed for Baker Street and Madame Tussauds, with the feel of a business that's been run by the same hands for years.

Rooms are simple and traditional rather than designer, with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks available in room. Family rooms are on offer for those travelling with children, and childcare can be arranged. Breakfast is served on site, and room service, packed lunches and laundry service are all available for guests who want to keep things easy. There's also an internet cafe, useful for anyone without a laptop to hand.

Practical extras include luggage storage, airport transfers, concierge and business services, so it works as well for a short business trip as for sightseeing. Restaurants, pubs and entertainment are all nearby, and the location keeps you within easy reach of the West End and the city's main attractions without paying West End prices.

I had a really nice stay here for a few days. Went to Wembley, and the way back to hotel was really easy. Baker street metro is close and good amount of buses go nearby. The staff was helpful and polite, and the hotel was small and lovely. My room was bigger than I expected, had an aircondition (thank god) and a bathtub, witch was what I had hoped for. Breakfast was versatile. Yes, the building is old, but it had charm in it. Only clear negative was that my bathroom had only warm or lukewarm water, would have enjoyed a cold shower and cold tap water. Overall my stay was better than I was expecting, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the check-in process was about as simple as it gets. The guy at the front desk basically checked my name off a list and handed me a key - no passport collection or deposit required (also not much of a welcome). The room itself was quite small. I didn't try the breakfast. Overall, this is an efficient place to spend the night at a competitive price point (for London).

Good location, close to tube and Marleybone High Street. Great full English breakfast every morning or other lighter options as well. The beds were comfortable and room was cleaned daily. Staff were helpful and friendly.
