About Chateau Denmark

Denmark Place sits in the tangle of streets just off Charing Cross Road, a quiet-looking cut-through that belies how close it is to the noise and colour of Covent Garden and the West End's theatres, bars and restaurants. Chateau Denmark occupies this spot with a hotel that leans into its city-centre setting rather than apologising for it, offering a base for guests who want to be in the thick of London's nightlife without straying far to find it.

Rooms are decorated with a distinctive gothic flair, generously sized by London standards and finished with attention to detail, from comfortable beds to high-quality sound systems that suit music-minded guests. All rooms are en-suite and air-conditioned, with drinks available in-room, and the hotel operates as an adults-only property. Family rooms are also available. Breakfast is served on site, and facilities extend to free WiFi, a kitchen, laundry service, business services and concierge support, with staff noted for being attentive and willing to help beyond the basics.

Pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues surround the hotel, making it easy to step straight out into Covent Garden's activity, and pets are welcome for those travelling with four-legged company. It suits guests after a characterful, central stay rather than a quiet retreat.

The location is obviously great. Central London, right beside a tube station. But I feel like that’s the only main positive to consider with this hotel. The room was quite dark, and I don’t mean aesthetically. Not quite like other pictures on the website, which honestly left it disappointing and underwhelming, especially considering the price and it apparently being a five star hotel. The bed was comfortable at least. The mini bar was pay per use, with a credit card hold during the stay. No other amenities associated with the hotel. I was vaguely aware of this when booking, but it was even more basic in person. The entrance was also quite hard to find on the first day, the sign is very discreet and it is situated in a busy alleyway beside a tourist attraction. We were given a complimentary free in their sister bad Thirteen. We wished we didn’t bother. The cocktail was nice, but the staff were not friendly or welcoming to us, even though they knew we were hotel guests. Definitely not getting value for money, nor does it deserve a five star in my opinion. Only reason I’d consider this hotel again is the location.

My stay at Chateau Denmark was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! The room was spotless and beautifully decorated! There were, however, a few areas that could be improved. I visited Tattu London which is a restaurant connected to the hotel and was disappointed by the limited options available for my dietary requirements. Due to my gluten and dairy allergies, the only meal available to me was plain rice, steamed broccoli and slices of chicken without any sauces. I also felt that the £70 bill was excessive considering the limited meal options and the slow service. In addition, when I booked my stay I contacted the restaurant, Thirteen at Chateau Denmark in advance to discuss my allergies and was assured there would be plenty of suitable choices available. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I found that sushi was the only option I could have, which was disappointing and I left hungry. I was also surprised that there were no complimentary toiletries provided in the bathroom, which felt like a missing touch for a hotel of this standard. Overall I would still recommend! 100%

Stayed in one of the townhouse apartments which is not in the main hotel (which is opposite and down an alleyway) but directly on Denmark street above all the guitar shops. Very Gothic vibe but amazing room and incredible sound system. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately we weren't here long enough to investigate the quirky bars or restaurants connected with the hotel but would love to come back another time

Just an exceptional good hotel. 34sqmr room is great. Very good on the small details. For example, thick towels of high quality that really work. Clean. Very friendly staff. No on prem restaurant but 4 restaurants 10m from the hotel, owned by the chain offer a wide selction for reasonable prices. Best location close to Oxford street shopping and all attractions. Very recommended.
