About European Hotel
A breakfast each morning sets guests up before heading out from the European Hotel, on Argyle Square in London, with pubs, restaurants and eateries all within easy reach for evening meals and drinks. The hotel itself doesn't run a restaurant or bar, but the surrounding streets more than make up for it.
The 81 rooms are simple and geared towards budget travellers, with free WiFi and luggage storage available for those passing through. It's worth knowing that some rooms are on the compact side and can show signs of wear, so this suits guests after an affordable base rather than spacious or polished surroundings.
The location is the real draw, sitting close to King's Cross and St Pancras International stations, making it a practical choice for onward travel or day trips into central London. Staff are on hand to help with queries, and the nearby entertainment options add to the convenience of staying so near two major stations.
What guests say
Two stars is generous. The room was extremely small. I’m 5’9” and 170 pounds. I had a hard time walking in the room. I only had one suitcase and one backpack. You will suffer if you’re taller and bigger than me. Also if you travel with a partner, you will suffer even more. They only provided one towel during my 4 days stay. The bathroom was not clean. The price was not worth it. There are benefits though: the staff is 24 hours. The location is excellent. And they let you store your luggage for free if you have a late flight. Will I come back? Never.

We were unfortunate enough to book into this hotel. The online pictures and 6/10 stars on booking.com is misleading. This is an old style hotel that is in a very dodgy square, full of other tired old hotels which when we arrived was full of people sat around smoking and doing drugs in the park, the air stank of weed and there were rubbish bags everywhere. Only 100m away you have the bustling centre of King’s Cross but this is not a street you want to enter. The room was tiny, bed was 3/4 sized double (not the standard as stated) and when we asked to move they said they had no bigger ones. There was mould in the shower as well in all the tiles and grout. We thought we’d give it the benefit of the doubt - went out for dinner. Upon returning the antisocial behaviour outside had escalated and there was a large group of people at the bottom of the hotel steps where just up from the reception - again the smell of weed was very heavy you could smell it inside in the corridors. We cut our losses, it wasn’t a safe place to stay - and immediately checked out and stayed elsewhere. Maybe for £50 a night for a single student you might but we were being charged £155 a night. They they have refused to refund us. It is a place no one would ever want to stay on holiday.

honestly for the price you pay it’s good. if you’re in rooms 12-18 be prepared to climb up a fair few flights of stairs. the rooms are simple but have everything you could need, even a fan for summer. location is great for transport links as you’re a 5 minute walk from king’s cross (if that) however - at night there’s a fair few homeless and loiterers on the street and outside the building, and into the night they can be quite loud with shouting and fighting, which may be a disturbance to your sleep.

I had a great stay the hotel is very close to the station book in advance and on their website to get a good price One thing too remember this is a budget hotel and it very good priced but don't expect primmer inn for a budget price this is a budget hotel. My only cons are ask from a room away from the main road because they're are content road works but the hotel can't help this There was a little bit of dust on the tv remote and the chrome in the bathroom needed a good polish some tiles needed a good deep clean You can hear other guests but I only noticed this at night time and it wasn't much My room was relatively clean and was cleaned when I was out for the day apart from the tiny issues I mentioned with is an easy fix I slept very well and for the price I paid for two nights I was very happy this is a budget hotel and it's not pretending to be anything other wise it does near enough everything right it you want a budget hotel at a very good price I'd recommend this The room also has a mini fridge witch you don't get in premium inns
